Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional certification such as CPA, CIA or similar is required
- Solid understanding of US GAAP; Knowledge of IFRS a plus
- 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience
- 5+ years of experience in internal controls
- Combination of private industry and public accounting experience; Big 4 experience a plus
- Experience with implementation of the COSO framework and SEC guidance for management's assessment of internal controls over financial reporting
- Experience with internal controls including process control design, preparation of flowcharts & control matrices, documentation and testing of controls, and identification and reporting of control "gaps" required
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical staff
- Must work well in teams and independently
- Continuous improvement and process mindset with a passion for measuring results through data and metrics
- Strong interpersonal skills with all levels of management, vendors, consultants, and contractors
- Ability to adapt to changes and work with tight timelines
- Understanding of processes and procedures in a global environment

What the job involves
- We are seeking an experienced and motivated Internal Controls Manager to be the Company's first line resource for internal controls
- The Internal Controls Manager will participate in the development of the company’s overall strategy to support the growth of the business by leading the implementation of its Internal Controls process. The Internal Controls Manager will work closely with legal, CFO, accounting, operational and financial planning groups within the Company. This is an individual contributor role
- The ideal candidate is someone who loves challenging opportunities and thrives with strict deadlines on a consistent basis
- Responsible for leading all aspects of the Company's compliance with requirements under COSO standards including documentation and testing of the Company's internal controls over financial reporting
- Perform internal controls documentation, including risk and controls matrices and process flowcharts, and evaluate controls as new systems are developed or processes change
- Communicate required changes to all process owners as needed and assist with on-going training activities including providing training to the internal finance and accounting organization in areas of controls, policies and procedures
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with the management teams of all major functional areas as well as external auditors and Company Audit Committee, ensuring a deep understanding of key risks and processes of the organization
- Coordinate with each process and control owners and external auditors and advisory partners on various matters including planning activities, walkthrough participation, evidence requests, information sharing, and status updates
- Work with process owners to provide sufficient support to evidence control performance, and coordinate with external auditors and advisors on document requests
- Assist with the collection and review of third-party SSAE 18 (SOC) reports
- Lead and perform researching and documenting issues and tracking remediation to conclusion
- Review findings from external audits and facilitate the remediation plans
- Lead and perform assessments of the internal controls impact of new initiatives, including system implementations/updates, new accounting standards and various special projects
- Track and report overall internal controls assessment status for reporting to senior management and the Board of Directors
