We are looking for a passionate, team-oriented Android Engineer who loves building software. We are prioritizing communication skills, problem solving skills, and attitude over years of experience
We are looking for someone who isn't afraid of learning and getting their hands dirty with larger refactors and helping us make the next generation of payments software here at CardFlight!
We also value strong communication, mentoring, and leadership skills
2+ years of Android development
Experience designing and building highly testable and scalable applications
Solid understanding of building complex UI/UX with view-based activities and fragments and experience with or desire to learn Jetpack Compose
Strong communication and collaboration, willing to be open to different communication styles and ways to solve problems
Ability to motivate, coach, and provide guidance to team
The ability to be flexible and flourish in a fast-paced atmosphere while remaining focused, working productively, and successfully juggling multiple tasks

What the job involves

Our mobile engineering teams are highly collaborative groups of diverse engineers working to deliver new features and enhancements. This individual will influence the creation and maintenance of current and future CardFlight products
Develop new features and maintain our Flagship Mobile Application, SwipeSimple on the Android platform
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to design and deliver high-quality products on Android
Work alongside a team of talented engineers to continuously build, ship, learn, and iterate on our products
Drive technical innovation, and best practices required to deliver best-in-class mobile applications
Ensure product stability through automated tests and development best practices
Technical Leadership & Mentoring (If candidate is senior level)
Coach and lead the team in Agile practices such as code reviews and pair programming
Mentor and develop a high-performing team of engineers
Architecture and Design (If candidate is senior level)
Design new features for long term scalability and maintenance
Assist in refactoring of existing code to ensure maintainability
Partner with backend engineers on API interface design
Collaborate with Product and UI/UX on new features and updates
Support operations team with customer facing technical issues

Application process

As part of providing a great new‑hire experience and setting you up for success, all new hires are required to attend an in‑person onboarding session on their first day of employment. During this session, you’ll meet with a member of our People Team to help guide your onboarding, connect with a few local employees, and get an introduction to our culture and processes
The company covers all costs for this onboarding, including reasonable travel expenses, meals, and hotel accommodations. You will be asked to arrive the day before your official first day (typically a Sunday), and hotel expenses will be covered through the night of your onboarding day
