Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in product management in free-to-play video games, with experience in casual and dice games preferred
- Ability to deconstruct competing feature sets and understand the market landscape. Able to propose credible and complete features
- Communicate effectively in large or small group settings and to senior management
- Adept at filtering and prioritizing large amounts of qualitative and quantitative feedback into digestible insights for the team and incorporating it into product requirements
- SQL experience (preferred)
- Ability to build wire-frames (preferred) and product specifications (mandatory)
- Enjoy sharing meaningful takeaways which help other PMs and team members grow
- Passion for games and crafting fun, compelling and exciting user experiences
- Outstanding written/oral, organizational, analytical abilities, and attention to detail
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to join a small team making an exciting new game in the casual space. Join us and own projects, drive results and directly impact business performance of new and innovative game experiences
- As Senior Product Manager, you will work closely with a cross functional group to write product specifications and drive feature development. You will also design AB tests, leverage analytics to identify problems and opportunities, and get buy-in on solutions
- Lead a team of cross functional developers to take features and initiatives from concept to launch. Report on feature performance and share learnings with other teams
- Apply a hypothesis-based analytical approach and conduct experimentation. Develop expertise in core and domain specific metrics
- Maintain focus on business goals and objectives while leading feature teams. Advocate for your team, your customers, and the business
- Deliver detailed reporting on active experiments and game performance, distilling key observations into clear action plans that drive results
- Continuously strive to improve the business by playing the game, triaging and evaluating feedback, and proactively pitching solutions and ideas
Our take
Zynga is a games developer that rode Facebook's platform to success back in the late noughties and early 2010's. It is now one of the biggest casual game producers globally, with a presence across 175 countries and regions and over 80 million monthly active users.
Though the company hit a number of roadblocks after its initial success - such as falling stock prices, and numerous calls it was copying other games - its subsequent resurgence is proof of its staying power. It continues to use social media as a distribution channel, and boasts titles such as FarmVille, Merge Dragons! and Words With Friends.
Future success will lie in the company's continued investment in building viral games that people love. It will also need to attune to the social media waves and keep track of where users can be found, as the landscape has become more mobile. Notable recent activity includes a collaboration with BBC Earth ahead of 2024's Earth day, and grant to develop actionable push notifications that enable gameplay without entering the application.
