- Bachelor’s Degree in User Experience, HCI, or related field; or Equivalent related professional experience
- At least five years related professional experience
- Strong appreciation for human-centered design and outstanding customer experiences, and a proven track record of collaboration with creative partners
- History of developing cohesive, compelling strategic visions for experience, product, and service challenges
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a motivated User Experience Designer III to help us envision and deliver delightful customer experiences. We work on a global scale for multiple brands, across devices and platforms, in a diverse and collaborative environment
- As a User Experience Designer III on the Private Label Solution (PLS) team, you have an opportunity to think through the framing of problems with a focus on end-user needs and desires
- Alongside the product team, you will identify, design, specify and implement end-to-end experiences for a wide range of products and services
- Your workstream will be Template, our white label template product, an area of the business which is one of the fastest growing segments in the company
- You will be a key contributor to creating delightful experiences for travelers booking on our airline, bank, hotel chain, retail and other partners sites
- You will enhance the travelers’ experiences, using the Expedia platform, and create additional functionality required by our partners
- Work with product managers, business partners, engineers, marketing and customers to develop and improve Expedia Group’s Template product for our B2B2C travelers worldwide, every single day
- Demonstrate understanding of visual and interaction design foundations and create appropriate sketches, wireframes, flows, design comps and prototypes
- Explore design solutions and directions based on customer needs, wants, and problems
- Collaborate closely with other experience designers, content designers and researchers to deliver explorations and solutions
- Demonstrate facilitation skills and ability to coordinate with cross-functional partners
- Use our design system, components and patterns effectively and appropriately with guidance
- Create routine, informative communication material explaining decision-making rationale to team members
- Help gather and interpret diverse qualitative and quantitative inputs
- Assist with defining success metrics for solving a design problem
- Contribute to idea generation in team settings
- Collect, process and act on design feedback constructively
- Build a solid toolkit of methods for facilitating the gathering and synthesizing of diverse insights in ambiguous problem spaces
- Influence strategy for a project or product area by articulating a coherent UX vision based on clear, actionable problem/opportunity statements
- Define customer experience success metrics for a project or product area
- Explore diverse, novel perspectives and design directions by default, and evaluate concepts using appropriate methods to determine the strongest proposal to present to the wider team
- Confidently facilitate idea generation with stakeholders
- Demonstrate mastery of common visual and interaction design principles and practice, and create appropriate sketches, wireframes, flows, design comps, and prototypes with minimal guidance
- Consistently create clear and compelling materials and narratives explaining design rationale to team and stakeholders using customer, business, or competitive insights
- Seek diverse feedback on design work and anticipate feedback to address it proactively
- Apply and adapt design and research processes to fit the needs of the project
- Develop empathy and insights about customers based on data and insights from research and other customer data sources
- Clearly communicate customer-centric goals when presenting work

They enable users to access a wide range of services including airline tickets, hotel reservations, car rentals, cruises, vacation packages, and various attractions and services via the world wide web and telephone travel agents. Its primary web businesses include Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Hotwire.com, and Egencia.com.
Between 2021 and 2022, Expedia has been selling and merging a list of its sub-brands in a bid to simplify its operations, including Egencia and Classic Vacations. Due to plummeting share prices, mostly in the case of its sub-brands, Expedia has been leveraging its subsidiaries' customer base and merging them into the company’s core brand. Contrasting this move, Expedia has also been partnering with tech start-ups in a bid to make travel more accessible to underserved groups. Becoming Rentable, a travel company for the disabled is one of 12 startups that are part of Expedia Group’s new Open World Accelerator Programme.
What this indicates is Expedia’s shift from buying other travel companies and a move towards enhancing the experience of its preexisting customer base. This move is aiding in a long-term plan for greater long-term traveler loyalty, utilizing Expedia’s vast amounts of data, not just from reviews, but from check-in, cleanliness, communication, cancelations, etc to inform how guests experience a property.
