Who you are
- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, including a proven track record of building and managing a successful accounting organization
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting, Finance, Economics) required
- An active CPA License
- Strong leadership, decision making, and technical skills
- Public Accounting Experience (Big 4 Preferred)
- Proficiency with Netsuite
- Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex financial topics to non-technical audiences
- Consumer Products and subscription experience preferred
What the job involves
- FabFitFun is looking for a Controller to lead our Controllership Department at our Beverly Hills HQ
- Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will lead and build the accounting organization, owning all aspects of accounting, including treasury, tax, financial reporting, AP/AR, and technical accounting
- Own monthly, quarterly and annual financial close. Work closely with FP&A team to deliver reporting of historical financial data
- Interpret, develop, implement and monitor accounting policies, processes, and procures. Maintain and further build out an accounting manual. Educate the accounting team and overall Company on accounting processes
- Work cross functionally with key stakeholders across the organization to identify and properly account for transactions. Analyze accounting issues and prepare memorandums based on research and analysis of authoritative and interpretative guidance
- Serve as the project manager for the Controllership special projects, including acquisitions, system integrations, investments, and new business initiatives. Assess the financial implications of proposed transactions, including developing pro-forma financial information
- Utilize technical expertise to assess and recommend deal structures and contract terms
- Oversee financial valuation models. Coordinate valuations with our 3rd party valuation firm
- Monitor the development of new accounting standards, including their potential impact on the financial statements. Lead implementation of new accounting standards, including implementation of new processes, systems, and training programs
- Lead the annual financial statement audit process and statutory audits
- Maintain existing internal controls and identify and design new internal controls as needed
- Collaborate closely with external tax advisors, provide supporting documentation, and review the 3rd party prepared tax provision to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial statements
- Oversee cash management and serve as primary liaison for commercial banking relationships

FabFitFun is a subscription service that delivers home decor, beauty, fashion and wellness products directly to its subscriber's doors. Subscribers can choose between two different plans and can either pre-pay for 4 boxes a year or pay-as-they-go for a slightly increased price.
The brand targets a premium market and faces competition from numerous other subscription services such as Birchbox, GLOSSYBOX and CAUSEBOX. Users are able to customize some of the products in their box, whereas other products are unchangeable 'surprises'. For brands, the box is a new way to find customers and engage with them.
During the pandemic, FabFitFun doubled subscribers, capitalizing on both the rise of self-care and 'stay at home' restrictions. It has maintained momentum, delivering new features and perks for members, in addition to securing a patent that enables parcel services to serve targeted ads via package tracking pages, status email updates, and other channels, which could prove lucrative for its future. In 2024, it began cementing its place in the pet marketplace by acquiring monthly subscription petcare company PupBox, indicating that FabFitFun is still searching for new and lucrative markets.
