Role

Who you are

  • Successful candidates will bring Finance functional SME experience from an organisation with complex products and features, ideally within traditional finance/banking or payments/fintech
  • They should be comfortable being hands-on and operational where needed
  • You will be impacting through others and therefore the ability to work with cross-functional teams and liaise with senior leaders is a must
  • Professional finance qualification such as the ACA or equivalent
  • 2+ years post qualification experience in Finance or Accounting roles, with experience in Finance Systems transformation
  • Proven track record of working on complex cross-functional technology transformation and implementation projects
  • Experience collaborating with Product and Engineering teams
  • Experience working in complex, face paced agile transformation projects ideally within a listed environment of a global financial services or payments/fintech organisation
  • SME on financial accounting, reporting, reconciliations and controls
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and their integration with GL systems
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities
  • Proven track record dealing with multiple stakeholders
  • You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and take responsibility to do whatever needs doing to solve problems

What the job involves

  • As part of its continued growth, Checkout.com is looking for a Financial Accounting to join our Financial Control and Accounting function, based in our London office
  • Your work will be instrumental in building our financial infrastructure systems and tools to deliver financial information in an automated, scalable and well controlled manner
  • You will partner with our Product and Engineering teams on our big rock initiatives such as building our proprietary Finance platform and infrastructure capabilities
  • You will collaborate across the sub-disciplines within Financial Control and Accounting (including operational teams) to ensure that solutions implemented meet finance data, operations, system integration, financial reporting, audit and control requirements
  • This will be a hands-on role and is an excellent opportunity for a Finance professional to step into a FinTech and take a hands-on role in building a strong technological foundation for financial operations and reporting within Checkout
  • Support the Finance SME in executing the Financial Infrastructure roadmap for your workstreams
  • Build an understanding of the current state of Accounting processes and identify problem statements that require future state solutions
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to clearly articulate Finance requirements, gaps and inefficiencies through discovery discussions
  • Define and document future state requirements alongside product and ensure alignment with accounting policies and best practices on controls
  • Active involvement during the development phase to provide feedback and iterate in a fast and agile manner
  • Build and execute test and adoption activities for any new implementation and ensure impact to BAU operations are adequately understood and communicated to stakeholders
  • Maintain granular level project plan for your workstream tracked via the PMO
  • Provide clarity to key stakeholders on workstream status and maintain close communication with workstream SME on any key decisions to be made
