Role
Who you are
- A relevant degree or comparable formal training, certification, and/or work experience (bachelor's degree preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in human resources
- Experience working within a software organization, preferably supporting Product and Engineering teams
- Ability to set up and track relevant metrics and key performance indicators and use them to drive business results
- Knowledge of compensation strategy, employee relations, organizational design, performance management, employment law, and diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Solid understanding of the many disciplines within human resources, including diversity and inclusion, performance management, compensation and benefits, talent management, employee relations, and more
- Preferably, have SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credentials
- You have exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- You have excellent interpersonal skills
- You have a good grasp of human resource management techniques and excellent people management skills
- You have outstanding mentoring and relationship-building skills
- You have exemplary organizational skills, time management skills, and pay attention to detail
- You are excellent at stakeholder management and developing good work relationships across the organization
- You have solid change management and project management capabilities
What the job involves
- We are looking for a strategic People Ops Business Partner who embodies each of Favor’s core values and serves as a culture champion for our team and will work alongside Favor’s management team and team members to support performance management, employee relations, career development, engagement programming, and organizational challenges
- This role will be required to see the big picture, use data to guide and propose solutions, and, in some cases, challenge convention
- Develop relationships with leaders to improve work environments, build morale, and increase productivity, retention, and engagement
- Identify training needs and assist the Employee Experience team in aligning training programs with business objectives
- Provide strategic workforce planning by ensuring the company’s workforce has the right size, shape, cost, and agility for the future
- Optimize organizational design to increase productivity and improve the performance of the business
- Select and develop key talent to ensure there are talents to fill in critical roles over time
- Partner with the Employee Experience team to support programs and processes related to team member engagement, including engagement surveys, cross-department focus groups, training, and resources
- Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team on job offers and hiring needs
- Work to ensure there is pay equity within the areas you support
- Manage and resolve employee relations issues by conducting thorough and objective investigations and producing effective solutions
- Provide career guidance to team members and propose solutions for internal movement and opportunities
- Collaborate with the Business Partner and People Operations teams to ensure a consistent and equitable experience for team members across all of Favor
- Provide daily performance management guidance to management teams and drive the formal semi-annual performance evaluation process
- Identify departmental training needs to continuously drive performance improvements
- Guide workforce planning, restructures, and succession planning
- Comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate aspects of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies in partnership with the People Operations and Legal teams
Our take
More and more people are looking to get things delivered fast, and businesses are trying to find inventive ways to meet the demand and get people’s purchases to them as quickly as possible. Favor solves this problem, with an on-demand delivery service that depends on “runners” to get products to customers quickly.
Customers can browse on the Favor app and select items from their list or input items from other stores in the delivery zone, and Favor runners will collect the item and deliver it within an hour. For customers in a hurry, this is obviously appealing. While many on-demand delivery services struggle to scale, Favor itself has managed to scale its operations across Texas and expanded into Philadelphia in mid 2022.
This centralization has given the company an advantage over competitors who have since gone out of business, but it isn’t yet clear if other competitors will imitate Favor's approach to gain market share. The company faces strong challenges from deep-pocketed rivals like DoorDash and Uber Eats.
