- 10+ years of professional experience building products within engineering teams, ideally with at least 3+ years in healthcare data
- Experience with our core technologies: Typescript/ JavaScript, Go, React, NodeJS, GraphQL, ElasticSearch, and AWS technologies (EC2, EKS, S3, Lambda)
- Experience with databases like PostgreSQL
- Software management tools such as Git, JIRA, and CircleCI
- Developer Operations, deploying to systems like Netlify, AWS, and Kubernetes
What the job involves
- As a Senior Director on the Data Engineering team, you will play a key role in leading and shaping the technical strategy and architecture of our internal product
- You will have direct founder-level interactions
- You’ll not only learn about great technology and a great product, but you’ll also learn from the decision-makers who have successfully built and exited multiple startups
- You will work directly with stakeholders across our company to deliver the best scalable, stable, and high-quality healthcare data application in the market
- Report to Senior Vice President of Data Engineering
- Act as a stakeholder for Real World Evidence (RWE) data (claims, publications, payments), and represent the data commercially with customers, in collaborations with the product team, and in presentations to the ELC
- Serve as the Technical Lead to approximately 10 individuals on RWE for H1 and guide the end-to-end delivery of data to product and shape the direction of RWE data at H1
- Steer the technical strategy and architecture, ensuring the smooth development, deployment, and scalability of applications across the entire technology stack
- Drive your team's success, providing guidance, removing obstacles by utilizing a creative approach to help unblock your team and formulating roadmaps and objectives to ensure seamless progression
- Collaborate closely with our Insights/AI team to build knowledge into our data and AI/ML platforms
- Work cross-functionally across the engineering, data, and product organizations to support your team in delivering the best healthcare data application in the market
Our take
Contrary to an increased emphasis on data privacy globally, within the healthcare industry governments are pushing for more data transparency. Additionally, the increasing costs and difficulty of drug discovery requires healthcare organizations and pharmaceutical companies to be able to quickly connect to professionals and thought leaders with specific credentials or research history. H1 addresses these needs by allowing life sciences companies, hospitals, and healthcare systems to locate the professionals they need.
H1 is the world’s largest healthcare database. It acts a bit like LinkedIn for healthcare professionals, and has already built a network of more than 9 million users. It has also built a corporate client base of 250 enterprises which is able to access its data which spans more than 250 million patients and over 10 billion health care claims.
The company graduated from Y Combinator's accelerator program in January 2020 and capped off a successful year by closing a Series B funding round that December. In 2021, H1 worked to further expand the company into Europe and Asia. Following a successful 2022 Series C round the company is focusing on building out its data network and hiring additional talent.
