Who you are
- If you are passionate about a better food system, social media, content creation and influencer marketing, and are eager to contribute your skills to exciting projects, we want to hear from you!
- This role is ideal for someone who lives on organic social, understands creator culture, loves storytelling, and wants hands-on experience in influencer partnerships and brand activation
- Currently enrolled in a Marketing, Communications, Media, Art, or related program
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of social media strategy
- Familiar with short-form video formats, specifically with an artistic eye for successful visual content
- Basic video editing experience (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, or similar)
- Excellent written communication skills with organizational ability around multichannel communication with influencers and partner brands
- Passion for food, cooking, sustainability, and better sourcing
Desirable
- Experience working with influencers or brands
- Photography or food styling experience
- Knowledge of analytics tools and social reporting
- Interest in written blogging
What the job involves
- As an Organic Social Media Intern at ButcherBox you will hone your organic social media knowledge while gaining valuable experience and mentorship from seasoned professionals in the industry
- ButcherBox is seeking a creative, food-obsessed, social-savvy intern to join our Creative and Marketing team for the summer
- You’ll help bring our brand to life across social platforms, support influencer campaigns, and assist in creating engaging, scroll-stopping content that inspires home cooks everywhere
- Throughout the duration of the intern’s time our team will be working on new and existing member events, in-person and online brand activations, summertime content creation and influencer partnerships
- Assist in planning and scheduling content across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and emerging platforms
- Monitor trends, viral formats, and audio to help inform our content strategy
- Track engagement metrics and help to report on performance
- Opportunities to contribute to our rising blog
- Research and identify creators aligned with ButcherBox values
- Support influencer outreach, communication, and campaign coordination
- Help track deliverables, timelines, and campaign results
- Maintain influencer database and performance tracking sheets
- Assist in concepting short-form video ideas (recipes, lifestyle, UGC-style)
- Support on-set shoots (if local) or remote content coordination
- Contribute to brainstorming sessions for seasonal campaigns
- Event planning support for member activations such as workout classes, member dinners, and beyond!
Our take
Dollar sales of meat are on the rise, with a growing consumer preference in the US for sustainably sourced, fairly bought meat. Subscription box purchases across DTC businesses are proving a runaway success, too. So it’s perhaps unsurprising that ButcherBox, a subscription meat company combining all these upwards trends, has been having a strong few years.
Given that ButcherBox hit upon a smart market niche, it is no surprise that competing startups are entering the space - and existing butchers are expanding to take a piece too. FarmFoods, for example, is a highly recommended rival, and Omaha Steaks saw substantial spikes in interest recently. That said, ButcherBox has continued to conduct a savvy marketing campaign that sees it win out on name recognition, and has allowed the company to bootstrap itself to $600M in revenue.
Recently, the company expanded into the pet food market, capitalizing on its large base of pet-owning customers, a move that holds significant potential as a promising new venture. Additionally, the company made its first acquisition in Truffle Shuffle, a vitual cook-along platform. This acqusition is aimed at boosting cosnumer confidence across the US, particularly within the ButcherBox community. The company is going from success to success and it will be an exciting one to watch in the coming years.
