Who you are
- We’re seeking an experienced, business-minded attorney to become our first in-house counsel

- You are an exceptional communicator who can translate complex legal concepts into practical, actionable advice for business leaders
- You are eager to develop expertise in new or unfamiliar areas of law
- J.D. degree with solid academic credentials and a state bar membership
- 4+ years of experience in a top-tier law firm and/or an in-house legal dept
- Proven experience in handling complex commercial transactions in fast-growing industries
Desirable
- Experience with venture-backed corporate transactions and contract negotiations
- Familiarity with legal issues specific to the renewable energy or technology sectors
- Background in compliance, data privacy, or intellectual property law
- Proficiency with equity compensation and stock plan administration
- Experience navigating an IPO or acquisition
What the job involves
- In this role, you’ll handle a broad spectrum of legal matters across the organization, including commercial transactions, business development, corporate law, insurance, and stock plan administration.
- This is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to diverse legal challenges while contributing to strategic initiatives as we scale
- Reporting to the CEO and as a key advisor to the executive team, you’ll contribute to strategic decision-making and ensure legal alignment with business objectives, helping Omnidian scale effectively and sustainably
- Legal Leadership and Strategic Guidance
- Handle a broad range of commercial and transactional matters, serving as an escalation point for issue resolution and improving contract templates and playbooks
- Work cross-functionally to support Omnidian’s initiatives on a wide variety of commercial transactions related to the business operations
- Provide legal and strategic guidance to assess and mitigate legal risk by building a deep understanding of the business and collaborate with internal clients to support their goals
- Contract Management and Compliance
- Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of commercial and transactional contracts, including customer contracts, business development arrangements, and vendor agreements such as master service agreements, vendor service agreements and other purchase agreements
- Support compliance, data privacy, and intellectual property strategy as the company scales and expands into new markets
Our take
As one of many options in the move to decarbonize our energy grid, solar power has shot up in popularity in recent years. However, one issue that may discourage investment in solar systems is the lack of post-purchase performance management and analytics options.
This is where Omnidian steps in, with solutions for solar owners and operators - as well as investors with solar portfolios - to monitor and service their systems for maximum performance and ROI. A key component of the company's offering is in predictive, rather than reactive, maintenance, which is proven to reduce costs. It also supplies a performance guarantee where Omnidian will cover the shortfall if a system generates less than 95% of its forecasted annual energy.
With its rather unique approach to the solar market, Omnidian has gained a lot of attention and investment thus far and has been steadily expanding its operations since founding in 2015. Funding in 2023 will support further technical innovation; with plans to provide improved transparency into portfolio performance, job site status, and active remediations to clients. A B Corp certification lends it further credence as a trusted solar solution.
