- We’re looking for a senior designer who is equally excited to design an excellent experience as they are to dig into the complexities of what makes our products tick
- Passion or past experience building consumer financial technology products is highly desirable

- 5+ years of product design experience in a consumer software company
- You have a portfolio of high-quality work that shows your experience designing elegant and visually engaging solutions to complex problems that directly solve user needs
- You take a structured, intentional approach to your work, leveraging frameworks and principles to articulate your design decisions
- You have experience collaborating with product managers, researchers, and content designers in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment
- You can demonstrate strong organizational skills with the ability to communicate and present ideas clearly
- You’re a reliable self-starter who can steer their work with minimal oversight
- You love designing for the entire product process from strategy to pixel—and can demonstrate a range of skills from high-level flows to detailed interactions
- You’re an exceptional product thinker who takes a deep interest in understanding business and customer needs

What the job involves
- Wealthfront is looking for a senior product designer to work on a new business line
- Reporting directly to the VP of Design, this role will be joining a tight team of very senior designers
- Wealthfront pioneered automated investing by offering broad access to sophisticated investing strategies at a fraction of the cost of traditional financial advisers
- That formed the beginning of a much broader vision for how our products can serve our mission to build a financial system that favors people over institutions
- Since then, we’ve continued to expand the ways we help our clients build long-term wealth through saving, investing, and more
- Your role will be to work on the end-to-end experience of a new business line
- You’ll collaborate closely with other designers and cross-functional partners on your team to define the direction for your work
- You’ll build on quantitative and qualitative research to craft delightful experiences that meet our customer and business goals
- This is a unique opportunity to be at the center of charting the next generation of innovation in financial products
- As a leader of your craft, your role will be to model this, develop these skills in your design teams, and contribute to the company-level design organization in partnership with the design leadership team
Our take
Wealthfront's platform takes the hassle and stress out of investing, financial planning, borrowing, and saving with automated services and financial advice. Its robo-advisor allows customers to set a financial limit on their accounts, anything above the limit is moved into an investment account or another account chosen by the customer.
Indeed, it has some similarities to round-up apps like Acorn, which round up purchases and put the spare change into savings. There are other companies working on robo-advisors too, such as Morgan Stanley and Betterment.
Nonetheless, with an impressive and steadily increasing list of clients, with more than $50B of assets under its management, Wealthfront achieved Unicorn status in September 2022. Wealthfront is diversifying its offerings, branching into high-interest checking accounts and investment advice.
