What the job involves

Reports To: National Account Executive
Team: Revenue - National Accounts
We’re looking for a proactive and driven Junior Business Development Representative (BDR) to support our National Account Executive in growing engagement across our network of agency partners
This role is focused on activating and supporting agencies under existing national partnerships, as well as helping onboard and educate newly affiliated agencies
Your job is to drive platform adoption, deepen relationships, and generate submission activity that fuels growth through our digital marketplace insurance offerings
This is a client-facing, early-career opportunity ideal for someone with strong communication skills, a commercial mindset, and an interest in the insurance industry
This is a great opportunity to launch a long-term career in the commercial insurance industry while helping partners succeed and grow
Drive Engagement: Proactively reach out to newly affiliated partner agencies to introduce our platform and value proposition
Onboarding Support: Coordinate onboarding sessions, provide platform training, and ensure new users are equipped to submit business successfully
Partner Support: Serve as a resource for day-to-day questions and support needs from retail agents under national partnerships
Activity Generation: Encourage quoting behavior and uncover opportunities to introduce new product lines, geographies, or coverages
CRM & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of agency interactions, outreach campaigns, and engagement metrics in the CRM system
Marketing Collaboration: Work with internal teams to tailor email campaigns, webinar invites, and other engagement effort that drive submission activity
Feedback Loop: Gather and relay insights from agency partners to the National Account Executive to help refine strategy and support scalable growth

Semsee is a InsureTech business helping independent agents serve small business owners. Their software helps streamline the quotes process for small commercial operations, and aims to help agencies spend more time cultivating connections and clients.

Whilst many startups are pivoting to offer direct-to-consumer services, Semsee’s approach focuses on keeping small agencies competitive with these would-be disruptors. They have, accordingly, won some strong industry support from the likes of D. E. Shaw Group and Nephila Holdings, Ltd.

How well this gamble will pay off remains to be seen. Direct to consumer services typically beat agencies out on price and studies have shown this to increasingly be the key driver of customer satisfaction in this field. However, if efficiency-driven solutions like Semsee can help agencies reduce their cost to consumers, they may win over customers keen to benefit from the favourable insurance protections that smaller agencies typically offer.
