Role
Who you are
- Translating and delivering high-quality English to German copy
- Adapting long-term strategic brand tone and vision to local markets, keeping in mind cultural differences and perceptions
- Contributing-to data-led strategic content projects
- Contributing to live updates in German, in the Pooch & Mutt tone of voice, with messaging that aligns to wider company goals
- Supporting our Customer Service Team when needed, to respond to German customer enquiries
- A native German speaker, living in the UK
- Fluency in English
- 2+ years of experience in copywriting/translations
- Strong writing, editorial, and proofing skills
- Experience translating content in a similar field
- Experience writing creative and engaging content
- An understanding of how to work to a specified tone of voice and with brand-led strategic messaging
- Team player abilities with experience on how to collaborate across functions
- A data-driven approach and awareness of the importance of appropriately quantifying your work
- Great self-organisation skills to work to tight deadlines
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a German Translator/Copywriter to join our fast growing brand. This role sits within the Brand Team, but will be a hybrid role working closely with the wider Digital Team.
- This is an exciting opportunity, helping lead Pooch & Mutt into a new territory.
- And the words we use to do this, are EVERYTHING.
- We want Pooch & Mutt to be on the lips of every dog owner across Germany (not literally, don’t worry), educating them on our health-led food, supplements and treats - as well as positioning us as their first port of call when it comes to their dog’s nutrition and wellbeing.
- We’re looking for a confident German Translator/Copywriter with a passion for pooches to dive into this brand-new role!
- The successful applicant will seamlessly translate copy from the English market across to Germany, covering the website, blogs, Paid Social, SEO and more. But this is just the beginning…
- Over time, the role will be something to make your own as we grow in this new territory. There’s the opportunity for development through creative writing; crafting tailor-made copy for our German audience through key-learnings and findings.
- You must be able to research, process and write engaging scientific copy - alongside catchy headlines and all other things pooch!
- The business is remote first and run by an ever-growing, talented team. The successful applicant will report to the Lead Copywriter and will work and collaborate with other teams across the business.

Transporting the health food craze to the animal world, Pooch & Mutt is a dog food company that uses all-natural ingredients in its supplements and meals. The aim is to improve dogs' moods and behaviour by enhancing their physical health.
Pooch & Mutt also allows pet owners to shop on its website by need, providing solutions for digestion, weight loss, joint care, and low-fat options. The company has also started to expand into cat care, which, since the company’s acquisition by petcare portfolio company VAFO in 2023, will no doubt grow from its now extensive network of pet food companies.
Since its acquisition, Pooch & Mutt is planning to launch a second brand, Planet Pet Society, and expand its sales into Europe off the back of European VAFO’s majority stake.
