What the job involves
- At Lightdash, we’re focused on ensuring people truly understand the impact of what we’re building. If you're passionate about storytelling, showing users the value of a product, and taking a hands-on approach to launches, we’d love for you to join us as our Founding Product Marketer
- In this role, you’ll be shaping how we talk about our product and making sure it connects with our users. You’ll work closely with the product, growth, and design teams to bring new features to life and help people get the most out of what we offer. You’ll be at the heart of how we grow, from launching new updates to keeping the momentum going
- Champion user success: You’ll translate our product’s features into stories that help users see the value of Lightdash. From product launches to ongoing updates, you’ll craft messaging that connects
- Create engaging content: You’ll produce tutorials, demos, and thought leadership pieces that educate and excite users about best practices in analytics
- Be the Lightdash voice: As the go-to expert, you’ll stay on top of new features and ensure we’re communicating effectively through all channels, from blog posts to webinars
- Drive go-to-market strategy: You’ll own the product marketing strategy, working with sales, product, and customer success to boost adoption and growth
- KPIs owned by the role:
- Lead Generation: Number of qualified leads generated through product marketing initiatives
- Content Performance: Engagement metrics for content, including traffic, shares, and conversion rates from marketing materials
- Market Awareness: Growth in brand awareness and market share within target segments
Our take
Lightdash was founded with the goal to help customers analyze their data by proposing relevant tests and thresholds to track, allowing users to customize queries by adding their own metrics. The platform currently supports most major data warehouses including Snowflake and BigQuery, with planms to keep broadening coverage.
Founders Hamzah Chaudhary and Oliver Laslett’s background as data scientists and software engineers gives them a significant advantage when developing a tool that aims to simplify the day-to-day for these types of employees. Lightdash tests the quality of the data directly from the customer’s data warehouse and reports any potential issue, allowing the client to visualize the results on a customised dashboard that requires no coding skills.
Crucially, Lightdash is open-source. That means it prioritizes integrations by default unlike Looker which, being owned by Google, has resulted in decreased interoperability with systems outside of GCP. On top of this, the company secured Series A funding in 2024, which is being used to roll out its AI Analyst product available on its cloud.
