Arranging appropriate care for a child with additional needs is generally very difficult and complex. Following a diagnosis, parents are faced with a complex, fragmented and often broken system where care can be hard to obtain without the most persistent research and effort.
Hibi was founded to help parents feel informed and give them some control in this situation. Its mobile app provides a central place to store important information such as medical records and education plans. It also gives access to experts who understand how to navigate the medical and social care system. Parents are then able to share the app's information with teachers, medical carers and other professionals to ensure that everyone is kept in the loop around a child's care.
Hibi is currently in early access and is being trialled with a group of early users. It has also received financial backing from Entrepreneur First and the University of Cambridge. With one in six children having additional needs that are often not met, there is an enormous potential market for an app which can assist this often overlooked and underserved population, and Hibi is extremely well poised to grow into a significant business.
