Who you are
- We are an AI-native company, and we expect the same of you. That means you’re genuinely excited (not threatened) by what AI means for the craft of design
- You’ll know when to design within constraints and when to push engineers to innovate, inspiring the team to go further

- Has deep experience designing digital products (web and mobile), with a portfolio that shows both craft and product impact
- Absorbs vast amounts of context and cuts through to clarity, surfacing the essence of a problem and designing the right solution
- Is decisive, with excellent taste and judgement — you’re able to balance trade-offs quickly without being paralysed by ambiguity
- Is a product and service thinker, but whose strongest tool is design: you lead through your craft and storytelling, not just frameworks or tools
- Designs experiences and touch-points (whether conversations, flows, emails or interfaces) that deepen trust and deliver value cumulatively, not just one-off interactions
- Thrives in a conversational, text-driven product — you treat language as part of the design and are incredibly precise about hierarchy, tone and word choice
- Feels native in today’s AI landscape, prototyping, experimenting and designing with AI-powered tools and workflows
- Can design for proof when needed (not just solutions), which means bringing a hypothesis-led mindset and grounding design decisions in data
- Has strong facilitation skills, i.e. you’re able to bring engineers, PMs and researchers into the process and guide a room towards clarity when needed
- Holds themselves to world-class standards — a sloppy detail, incoherent flow or lazy assumption won’t pass your bar
- Believes in iteration as much as perfection – you’re willing to go back to the drawing board, sweat the details and keep pushing until the work is right

What the job involves
- As our Senior Product Designer at Nous, you’ll be shaping the future of one of the UK’s most ambitious consumer AI services
- This isn’t a role for someone who just wants to “make things look nice.” You’ll think like a product manager, execute like a designer and QA like an engineer, bringing clarity, craft and consistency to some of the most complex design challenges out there. After all, if this was simple, someone would have built Nous already
- You’ll lead from the front as a natural product thinker whose superpower just happens to be design
- Whether it’s mapping how a household might converse with an agentic AI service, crafting data-capture flows that feel seamless rather than painful, or designing the end-to-end service experience that builds trust over time, you’ll turn ambiguity into intuitive, elegant journeys
- Storytelling will be central to your craft, whether that’s selling a vision to stakeholders, illustrating user journeys for product squads or helping new joiners understand what makes our digital products distinctively Nous
- You’ll prototype with tools like Lovable, Replit, v0 or Cursor, and experiment with motion and micro-interactions that bring our service to life. Naturally, you’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineers, not only designing but shipping features, QAing them, and getting them in front of users to make sure they work
- This is a role with huge scope and responsibility. You’ll shape not just what ends up in our users’ hands, but the relationship they have with Nous over weeks, months and years
