Role
Who you are
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Ability to decompose complex systems into functional parts, with clearly defined interfaces and requirements for each
- Demonstrated experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting electronics at the component and system levels
- Strong laboratory skills (e.g. design of experiments)
- Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits
- Experience in system development from initial concept through test and delivery to customer
- Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance
- Willingness to travel to test sites, as needed
Desirable
- Advanced sensing domain experience (e.g., EO/IR, LIDAR)
- Experience working with gimbals, or other stabilized platforms
- Firmware development (VHDL or Verilog )
- A track record of successfully working on fast-paced, highly technical, interdisciplinary teams
- Demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functional team through design trades while meeting program deadlines
- Proficiency in an analytical toolchains/language (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C++, etc)
What the job involves
- Work with our systems engineering teams to define requirements based on physics-based models of sensor & system performance
- Be responsible for development of all electronics aspects of airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems (e.g. sensor electronics, aircraft interfaces, power management, etc.)
- Provide support and collaborate with multiple aircraft platform teams, both internal and external
- Work with our electrical engineering organization to develop new PCB designs
- Support system testing at the lab, ground, and flight test levels
- Validate models against laboratory and real world data
- Coordinate and communicate with both external & internal stakeholders with varying degrees of technical background
Our take
Anduril makes hardware and software for defense agencies including the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security. Its hardware products include specialist drones with a long flight time and surveillance towers.
This hardware is tied together by proprietary software, the Lattice platform, which uses sensor fusion, machine learning, and mesh networking to integrate real-time data from Anduril hardware and third-party systems into a single, autonomous operating picture. While the hardware observes and detects, the software can make decisions as to the threat level of any anomalies, and so allow for observation and protection of an area or building with minimal manpower.
Anduril closed a Series E funding round in 2022 led by Valor Equity Partners. This funding was used for research and development of its autonomous defense products, such as the Roadrunner, a modular twin-jet powered autonomous vehicle that can take off and land vertically. Variants of the Roadrunner include defensive warhead armed interceptors which are the first drone weapons that can be retrieved after deployment. The company has also expanded to Australia where it is working in tandem with the Australian Defence Force to improve its military technology and infrastructure and is recruiting talent worldwide to support its rapidly growing portfolio of defense projects.
