Role
Who you are
- 5 Years of Experience in developing and documenting test plan, test cases and reporting defects
- Have experience executing E2E testing and reporting results
- (Optional) Experience with test case design techniques implementation
- Have experience with backend/services testing
- Have worked on web/mobile platform and have a very good understanding of and ability to troubleshoot the testing ecosystem (plus points for mobile experience)
- Have significant experience and willingness to work with other teams such as engineering, product and release teams
- Are constantly thinking ahead, and building for future changes in an ever-changing ecosystem
- Shows a passion for learning, especially through looking at new processes and tools that have significant impact on engineering teams
- Experience of prioritizing and coordinating work across a large number of product teams is a plus
- Excellent communication skills
What the job involves
- A Quality Assurance (QA) will be responsible for driving testing activities, such as test plan & strategy definition, implementation of test case design techniques to detect positive, negative and corner cases, execute test cases and report results along with issues detected
- This is a hands-on position. You will collaborate closely with test automation, product and dev teams
- As a QA Engineer for Lyft Media – you will work on one of Lyft’s newest lines of business focused on building the world’s largest transportation media network
- We build products that allow brands to engage with our unique audience throughout their transportation journeys
- This role is on our Digital Ad Infra team focused on building a first-in-class ad tech stack
- Define and implement test plan by collaborating with the cross-functional team
- Participate in test strategy definition along with automation team
- Analyze design docs and requirements to define test cases
- Implement test case design techniques to define positive, negative and corner cases
- Prioritize and identify regression and smoke test cases
- Conduct test plan and test cases reviews
- Identify and propose ideas to improve testing process
- Execution of test cases under different platforms (web, mobile and backend)
- Report execution results and provide Sign-off
- Report, prioritize and track defects
- Perform exploratory testing
Our take
Lyft has aimed for consistent growth, making sure to pitch itself as a more reliable and friendly ride-sharing option than its main competitor, Uber. Uber has a greater market share and operates globally, but Lyft hopes to compete by its focus on ride-sharing over Uber's more diversified business approach and as a more rider-friendly and greener alternative to Uber.
Operating only in the USA and Canada, Lyft is in a position of being less affected by global events than Uber but also more vulnerable to local conditions. As an example, while it doesn't face the regulatory hurdles around employment rights that Uber does, it is unable to balance out the cost of the unusually expensive US auto insurance across its operations.
In 2022, Lyft acquired PBSC Urban Solutions, a bike-share equipment and technology supplier, allowing Lyft to compete in new verticals and reaffirming its commitment to green transportation. It has also trialed and launched Lyft Assisted, where drivers help passengers from their door into the car to get to medical appointments. These developments chime well with Lyft's unique selling point as a friendlier and more environmentally aware ride-sharing app.
