What the job involves
- The Harry’s and Flamingo Accounting team at Harry’s is a part of Global Finance and is responsible for recording transactions, validating completeness and accuracy, and recording and presenting actual results of the financials of the company
- The team plays a critical role in enabling senior management to make fast, data-driven strategic decisions for the Harry’s and Flamingo brands
- This position supports the Harry’s and Flamingo brands
- This position will play a key role in supporting the scale and growth of the business, specifically as we become a more global accounting team, through helping the team build efficiencies into the month-end close process, strengthening controls in key accounting procedures, and reporting on financial data in an impactful way
- You will be working directly with the greater North American Accounting team and will regularly engage with cross-functional teams throughout the company
- Support the US-based accounting team initiative to serve our UK business with Month End closing tasks relating to revenue, cash, and other general ledger accounts
- Support the H&F Global Accounting team with daily/monthly DTC reconciliations
- Support the team with daily cash applications and monthly cash reconciliations
- Perform key account reconciliations for multiple accounts; all while collaborating with both finance and most teams across the organization
- Support the Accounting Manager with month-end reporting and any ad hoc requests
- Assist in developing, documenting, and improving processes and policies to drive financial discipline across the company
- Assist with accounting for our UK entity
- Assist the Accounting team with the annual audit
- Assist in special projects as needed
- Reporting to the H&F Global Controller
- You will work closely with the full Harry’s and Flamingo Accounting team and Shared Services team
- You will communicate regularly with the FP&A, Treasury, Distribution and Supply Chain teams, to name a few
Our take
Harry’s Inc shot to fame in the years after its 2012 launch for developing and selling high quality, affordable men’s shaving and grooming products online. Between then and now, the company has grown tremendously, expanding into major retail stores, and launching three more brands: Women’s shaving products company Flamingo, hair care-focused Headquarters, as well as cat food brand Cat Person.
Though a billion dollar sale to consumer brand corporation Edgewell was surprisingly blocked by the Federal Trade Commission in 2020, Harry’s product and brand diversification actually led to a significant boost in sales.
The blocked sale of the company, while a shock at the time, has proven to be a blessing in disguise. Harry’s has gone on to raise hundreds of millions of dollars, which it has used to expand its portfolio of brands – all in keeping with its aim of becoming a major multi-category consumer packaged goods (CPG) company.
