Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience in architecting and implementing cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, API Gateway
- Experience in backend development using languages such as Python, Go, or Java
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Solid understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work effectively within a distributed team
Desirable
- Knowledge of distributed systems, event‑driven architectures, or streaming data pipelines
- Experience working with geospatial data, mapping libraries, or data visualization frameworks
- Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Experience building and consuming RESTful or GraphQL APIs
- Exposure to RF, signal processing, or satellite‑derived data products (not required but beneficial)
- Familiarity with secure coding practices and cloud security principles
- Capable of using a distributed version control system such as Git
What the job involves
- As a Full Stack Developer, you will design, build, and maintain the software systems that power Spire’s RFGL product suite
- You’ll work across the full stack — from backend services and APIs to front‑end interfaces — ensuring our customers can seamlessly access, visualize, and interact with complex RF‑derived insights
- This role is ideally based in Spire’s Glasgow office, one of our key engineering locations, and will collaborate daily with colleagues across Europe, the US, and APAC
- You’ll contribute to the development of RFGL products, enabling rapid innovation and broad customer engagement.As a Full Stack Developer, you will design, build, and maintain the software systems that power Spire’s RFGL product suite

- Develop and maintain full‑stack applications that support Spire’s RFGL product offerings
- Build robust backend services, APIs, and data pipelines that integrate with Spire’s space‑based data infrastructure
- Create intuitive, performant front‑end interfaces for visualizing RF geolocation outputs and analytics
- Collaborate with a globally distributed team to translate product requirements into technical solutions
- Ensure code quality through testing, reviews, and adherence to engineering best practices
- Contribute to architectural decisions that improve scalability, reliability, and maintainability
- Monitor and optimize application performance in production environments
- Support continuous integration and deployment workflows
Our take
There’s been an increasing focus on big data in recent years, and Spire Global aims to lead the field in the biggest data of all - Earth Intelligence - with its suite of satellites collecting data from beneath the Earth’s surface to the edge of the atmosphere.
It identifies three main areas of use for its data - Aviation, Maritime, and Weather. Its capabilities in these fields include providing over 660M position reports each day for the aviation industry, building intelligent routing and tracking systems for maritime shipping, and supplying in-depth weather forecasting and climate impact analysis.
Beyond this, Spire Global's satellite system has countless other applications, such as real-time observation in active conflicts, and wildfire tracking. Operating in a rapidly developing market for space-based data, Spire continues to expand its satellite network and capaibilities as demand for global monitoring and environmental intelligence grows.
