Role
Who you are
- At least 2+ years of experience in a software engineering management role, leading teams focused on customer-facing product surfaces
- Proven track record of building highly engaged and high-performing engineering teams
- 5+ years of experience as a software engineer working on customer facing products
- A plus: Direct experience working on product initiatives that require collaboration with dedicated external partners or customers
What the job involves
- As Harvey becomes central to more and more use cases, helping users get started and find success with the product becomes critically important
- The Discovery team’s charter is to help users understand what Harvey is capable of through browsing, personalized recommendations, and more
- This is a new team that we’re building out from scratch
- As a leader for this team, you will be responsible for building out the team and laying the groundwork for a lot of initiatives around Discovery at Harvey
- Build out the Discovery team by attracting strong engineering talent, both internally and externally
- Help define the charter for the team, along with cross-functional partners
- Work closely with customers and cross-functional partners to understand customer pain points, identify opportunities, and develop a compelling roadmap
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence, paired with innovation and calculated risk-taking
- Help shape the broader Engineering and Tech org as Harvey goes through hypergrowth

Via natural language instructions, Harvey helps draft and analyze legal documents. It can also answer complex questions across large document sets, or even handle research queries that cover multiple domains in legal, regulatory and tax.
Its ability to support legal practitioners as if it's another member of the team is what makes Harvey particularly interesting. This approach has seen the company raise substantial funding, reaching Unicorn status in 2024. Funds will be used to expand to new geographies, grow headcount and further collect and curate data to train more “domain-specific” AI models.
