- Technologies you might be familiar with: Cloud service providers(AWS, GCP, Azure), ETL or ELT, software engineering & the SDLC, CI/CD

- 3+ years of experience in technical project/program management
- Software project management experience is a strong plus
- Agile and waterfall project/program management experience
- Familiarity with project management tools like Jira, Trello
- Start-up experience a strong plus
- PMP certification is a plus
What the job involves
- The mission of the Engineering Program Management Office (PMO) is to implement program and project management methodologies that enable Fivetran to deliver complex products and initiatives on time and within expectations
- In addition, the Engineering PMO will act as the subject matter expert for project and program management standards, directing a department-wide approach to project delivery and communication
- You will help plan, track, and execute the company's most critical and cross-cutting product and engineering objectives
- You will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams, managing complex programs and projects, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our customers
- You will communicate and work in close collaboration with partners across the engineering team as well as other business partners to achieve this vision
- Manage key engineering projects and/or programs or initiatives from initiation to closing
- Provide regular status updates on a variety of internal channels to all levels of the organization
- Define project plans and schedules. Drive project execution
- Lead internal cross-functional teams in engineering and validation activities
- Ensure tight inter-team coordination and communication
- Digest, understand, and communicate complex, technical/engineering issues
- Identify and resolve conflicts or issues quickly, efficiently, and effectively
- Surface and mitigate risks or defects and lead technical task forces to ensure proper risk responses or issue resolution
- Manage interdependencies across multiple engineering disciplines and stakeholders, including platform, SRE, & QA
- Develop creative solutions, remove obstacles, and redefine approaches to balance cost, quality, and delivery priorities
- Work closely with product management, data analytics, enablement & support
- Define and own specific project metrics and objectives
- Track and report on PMO KPIs
- Act as a role model for project management processes
- Surface feedback and enhancement to processes
- Align stakeholders and team members towards project management best practices
Our take
After a few slower years since graduating from Y Combinator in 2013, Fivetran has skyrocketed, consistently raising large sums of funding, including an Andreessen Horowitz-backed $565m Series D round in 2021.
Customers are mostly data analysts at companies with inefficient database schema, who suffer from a high risk of project failures. Fivetran offers rapid integration of complex data services into cloud warehouses, tagging onto the trend towards cloud-based data systems.
By developing and continuously improving cloud applications that adapt to changing APIs and data schemas, Fivetran is attracting customers who seek long-term data viability. Fivetran also benefits from being easy to set up and integrate into a client's existing software.
After acquiring HVR, a data integration competitor, and Teleport Data, Fivetran continues to add functionality and customers via acquisition. A round of funding in 2023 paved the way for expansion into European and Asian markets.
