Who you are
- BI/Visualization Tools Expertise: Experience with one or many BI/Visualization tools, such as Tableau or Looker
- Data Mastery: Deep understanding of data hierarchies and relationships and how they relate to business metrics and KPIs
- SQL & Python: Ability to build robust and complex SQL queries to both pull data and build summary tables; python expertise to build visualizations in Streamlit, D3 and other libraries
- Advanced Excel Skills: Proficiency in Excel, including advanced use of pivot tables and complex functions
- Storytelling with Data: Ability to use data to tell a compelling story that drives action
- Self-Motivated: High degree of drive and self-motivation with the ability to work independently
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to translate complex business problems into clear, actionable insights
- Team Player: Thrive in a dynamic work environment, exhibiting flexibility and a strong team-player attitude
- Problem-Solving: Ability to work autonomously to solve problems and create solutions
- Business Process Understanding: Comprehend how business processes impact reporting and analytics
- Extensive Experience: 10-15 years’ experience in business intelligence, analytics, data science, or similar function
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with subscriptions; working knowledge of industry terminology and metrics
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in a related field; advanced degree preferred

What the job involves
- The Subscriptions Business Insights team is at the forefront of driving data-driven decision-making for Roku’s Subscriptions business
- This team is responsible for building out the data and information suite that the Subscriptions business runs on: the metrics, KPIs, reports, dashboards, deep-dive analyses, and more
- By working closely with cross-functional teams, including Core Analytics/Data Science and Engineering, the Subscriptions Business Insights team will be a key enabler of growth and contribute to Roku’s success
- Roku is looking for a Senior Manager, Subscriptions Business Insights to join our expanding Subscriptions team
- This role will be pivotal in developing and managing key business reporting and analytics strategies and artifacts for the Subscriptions business
- Reporting to the Sr.Director, Subscriptions Business Insights, this position demands hands-on technical expertise combined with a strong analytical mindset and exceptional communication skills
- Develop and Maintain Reporting Tools: Build and maintain dashboards and reports using tools like Tableau and Looker to support the Subscriptions business's needs
- Conduct Deep-Dive Analyses: Create detailed deep-dive analyses in PowerPoint to provide comprehensive insights for executive management reporting
- Actionable Insights: Leverage data to provide actionable insights to stakeholders. Ensure reporting and analytics tools keep pace with the fast, dynamic nature of the Subscriptions organization
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the bridge between business teams and multiple technical data and analytics teams, understanding both the nuances of the business and the technical systems
- Data Integrity: Work closely with data, applications, and engineering teams to ensure optimal data structures and models, clarity, and simplicity across our Subscriptions systems
- Strategic Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analyses to identify key trends and opportunities, providing strategic recommendations to drive business growth and improve decision-making

According to Nielsen data, the average streamer spends over seven minutes searching for something to watch. Streaming services use customers' viewing history to make suggestions, but these are limited to programs licensed for that particular service.
Roku provides an integrated streaming service that offers TV channels, movies and third-party streaming services, resulting in an all-in-one streaming platform. The service can be accessed through a variety of customized subscription packages and fees.
Roku stands out in the streaming industry by bringing many competitors together in one package. The startup provides further innovative services such as a weekly TV series named 'Roku Recommends' which uses first-party data to recommend essential viewing to users. Alongside funding filmmakers through its "Change Makers Program", Roku also acquired its own original library of shows through its acquisition of now-defunct Quibi's library in 2021. After successful collaborations with TCL and Hisense, the first in-house "Roku Television" was released in 2023, further exemplifying the streaming company's wider ambitions in the media sector.
