Who you are
- The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about making an impact
- 10+ years of experience including at least 5+ years in a F&S or strategic finance role at a high-growth company. Experience in investment banking or private equity is a plus
- Previous hands-on experience with go-to-market finance and strategy
- High degree of comfort preparing professional, robust, bespoke financial analyses tailored to complex and ambiguous business situations
- Is highly analytical and detail-oriented, with a strong aptitude and enthusiasm for complex problem-solving and a bias toward action
- Strong working knowledge of finance and accounting principles
- Strong business partnering and communication skills
- Nice-to-have: Proficient in SQL and Looker, experience with PLG businesses and SaaS metrics
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Finance & Strategy Director, reporting to the VP, Finance & Strategy, who will focus on partnering with our go-to-market teams to support our growing business
- Not only will you play a central role in shaping and executing on our GTM planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes, but you will also be a key thought leader in assessing our go-to-market strategy
- You will be the primary finance business partner to our go-to-market teams
- You will help synthesize and consolidate key financial results and metrics to drive a unified understanding of business performance during a critical period of Apollo’s growth
- Key thought leader on optimizing go-to-market strategies and assessing their efficiency
- Partner with our Sales, Account Management, Marketing, Success, and Support organizations to drive growth and optimize performance of our GTM investments
- Develop frameworks to support investments; own financial performance and develop reporting to drive deeper understanding of the efficiency of our go-to-market channels (eg. ROAS, LTV:CAC, CAC Payback)
- Synthesize key go-to-market financial and business insights for leadership - analyzing results, business KPIs, assessing risk, and communicating timely risks & opportunities
- Build frameworks in partnership with RevOps to optimize sales capacity planning, productivity, and compensation structures
- Support company-wide planning processes including Long Range Plan and Annual Plan
- Translate business activities and key performance inputs into financial outputs that allow us to reason about return on investment of specific marketing channel tactics, trade off ROI of the next marginal dollar spent, and help optimize performance at a portfolio level
- Conduct deep dives into business trends and drivers of variance. Lead synthesis of data extraction, cohort analysis, and visualization, for presentations highlighting GTM performance, trends, and key opportunities
- Support pricing and packaging workstreams including promotions and impact analysis of price changes as needed
Our take
Apollo's sales intelligence and engagement platform integrates with companies’ existing internal tools, such as LinkedIn, Salesforce and Hubspot, to increase and optimize sales and marketing leads. Rather than simply employing a volume-heavy approach to leads, Apollo’s software allows users to focus on more convertible prospects, while automating task management and workflow.
The company launched in 2015 and grew steadily in its early years, but the period since 2021 has seen it enter a rapid scale up. Now its customer base includes the likes of Autodesk, Stripe, Docusign and Yelp.
Apollo now intends to keep the upward momentum going, having secured major funding in mid-2023 and is also investing heavily in India as its R&D center, where there’s a burgeoning pool of tech talent. In early 2023, Apollo reported record revenue numbers and appointed a new CPO, indicating a solidification of these aims.
