Who you are
- 4+ years of professional experience – You’ve contributed meaningfully to production systems and are comfortable owning development tasks with guidance
- Full-stack fluency – You’re comfortable building end-to-end features, from backend services and APIs to polished, user-facing interfaces
- Technical proficiency – You have experience with at least one backend language (preferably Python) and modern JavaScript frameworks (React preferred)

What the job involves
- We’re hiring a full-stack Software Engineer to help us build the next generation mental healthcare platform
- You’ll join a mission-driven team where engineering decisions are tightly aligned with business outcomes, and our broader goal of making affordable mental health care more accessible across the United States
- This role is full-stack by design: you’ll work across our backend services (Python/Flask) and frontend applications (React/TypeScript)
- We expect applicants to be equally comfortable improving our frontend client portal experience or writing an API spec to support a mobile app feature
- Our Client Engagement team’s mission is to make Grow the trusted place clients turn to for their mental health needs, offering personalized support and tools in the moments that matter most
- Build Strong Foundations: Ensure the core intersession experience is available to all clients on both mobile app & web, is reliable, and intuitive
- Deliver Personalized Recommendations: Create an intelligent recommendation engine that leverages data we have on to surface the most relevant tools and resources
- Provide High-Value Between-Session Tools: Offer meaningful tools that extend care beyond sessions and help clients apply therapy in daily life
Our take
Mental health issues affect about 20% of Americans, so there’s an immense need for qualified mental healthcare in the US. However the vast majority of therapists don’t accept insurance due to the prohibitive administrative workload involved. This leaves therapy out of reach for many Americans. So it’s no surprise that the Grow Therapy platform has seen skyrocketing popularity since it was founded in 2020.
Grow Therapy helps therapists open their own in-network practices, providing the technology, support, and resources to tackle the extra operational workload that would allow them to take insurance. It’s live across a number of states, and works in partnership with all the major insurance payers including Humana, Aetna and Cigna.
The company is competing with larger rivals like Alma and Quartet Health, but this should be a big enough market for several major participants. Grow has secured good funding that supported the launch of its enhanced measurement-informed care system, which will help improve the care experience for clients and providers and make value-based behavioral care accessible for more patients.
