Who you are
- JD degree
- Minimum of 10+ years of relevant legal experience at a law firm or in-house
Desirable
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing financial products and payment services, and experience launching business activities in new jurisdictions
- Experience in managing licensing applications and supervisory matters for regulated financial services businesses in the U.S. and abroad
- Experience collating and submitting license applications for financial products in the U.S. and abroad
- Proven ability to proactively, efficiently, and accurately assess and mitigate legal risks in a fast-paced environment
- Track-record of creative problem-solving, excellent written and oral communication skills, and creation of strong and trusted cross-functional relationships
- Strong knowledge of and interest in disruptive technology; prior experience working in fintech, digital assets or high-growth tech companies a plus
What the job involves
- As Product Counsel at Gemini, you will leverage both breadth and depth of experience at a law firm and/or as in-house counsel to help Gemini tackle the complex legal and regulatory challenges that confront a disruptive emerging asset class
- You will report directly to Gemini’s International General Counsel to support, develop and maintain Gemini’s regulatory framework across multiple product offerings globally
- You will support the Company in its strategic expansion initiatives, playing a critical role in building our business at the forefront of the future of money
- Provide risk-principled legal, regulatory, and strategic advice during all phases of product development and global regulatory licensing initiatives
- Manage projects effectively and collaboratively across different internal stakeholders including Product, Compliance, Finance, Technology and Security
- Build positive and influential relationships with Gemini leadership, cross-functional partners, and external stakeholders regarding regulatory matters that impact our products
- Collaborate with and support the International General Counsel and the rest of the Legal team to evaluate and communicate legal risks and develop creative solutions to bridge business priorities in a changing regulatory landscape
- Proactively identify risks and collaborate with internal stakeholders and outside counsel to develop actionable solutions (and clearly communicate these solutions to management) with respect to regulatory or licensing matters
