Role
Who you are
- 5-10+ years of experience developing modern web applications, ideally at a startup or consumer-facing product
- Mastery of front-end technologies: JavaScript/TypeScript, React (or similar framework), HTML, CSS
- Experience with content management systems (e.g., Contentful) and component-driven development
- Familiarity with design systems and a passion for building polished, consistent UIs
- Extensive experience with back-end development (e.g., Node.js, Express, REST APIs) and cloud platforms (Azure is a plus)
- Comfortable translating Figma (or similar) designs into pixel-perfect, accessible, production code
- Strong collaborator, eager to work across disciplines to deliver features that truly put people first

What the job involves
- 70% frontend development, 30% backend development
- Lead the development of responsive, accessible, and user-centric front-end experiences for our web platform
- Collaborate with UX designers to translate wireframes and mockups into production-ready code
- Implement and maintain reusable components, design systems, and best practices for UI development
- Contribute to the iterative improvement of our product, with rapid prototyping and frequent feedback loops
- Support back-end development as needed (APIs, data integration, etc.), working across the full stack
- Optimize application performance, accessibility, and security
- Collaborate across product, design, and QA to deliver high-quality releases and solve technical challenges
- Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and continuous process improvement

The New York-based IT outfit aims to make IT more accessible through human-to-human interaction, catering to the form of help that older people feel most comfortable with. The company offers IT training and call centre assistance from seasoned IT experts, helping customers update software, set up email accounts and hard drives.
A novel concept, Waltz’s tailored focus on older generations and the methods of learning and communication they’re most comfortable with has a lot of promise. Here’s to hoping it can expand its team and help even more people become fluent with new technology.
