Who you are
- [Required] Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience
- 8+ years of professional software development industry experience
- Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript, or similar) and frameworks
- Experience with entire modern backend development stack, including but not limited to Git, GCP / AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, relational and non-relational DBs, and monitoring / alerting tools
- Proven track record of designing and implementing end-to-end solutions and making successful architectural decisions
- Experience mentoring others engineers and leveling up an engineering organization
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Openness to occasional travel
What the job involves
- Lead the design and architecture of complex, scalable integration solutions between our platform and external healthcare systems, including EHRs, and clinical applications
- Drive technical strategy for integrations by evaluating and selecting appropriate tools, technologies, and platforms to meet current and future business needs
- Collaborate with product, engineering, ops to define and prioritize integration requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical leadership and fostering a collaborative environment to encourage skill development and innovation
- Lead troubleshooting and performance optimization for integrations, identifying root causes of issues and implementing robust solutions to enhance reliability and efficiency
- Ensure adherence to healthcare compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, HL7, FHIR) in all integration work, and collaborate with security teams to safeguard sensitive data
- Define and implement best practices for integration architecture, testing, and monitoring to ensure high availability and scalability
- Own end-to-end integration projects, from design through deployment, ensuring successful delivery and maintaining long-term operational health
- Collaborate on cross-functional initiatives with teams in DevOps, QA, and data to ensure smooth deployment and monitoring of integrations in a cloud-native environment
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the team’s engineering processes and tools by participating in code reviews, establishing coding standards, and refining development workflows
- Stay ahead of industry trends in healthcare integration and emerging technologies, recommending and implementing new approaches to improve the system’s integration capabilities

This ultimately reduces spaces in hospitals and clinics when patients could otherwise be cared for from home, presenting an increased demand for remote patient monitoring (RPM) technology.
Athelas develops RPM hardware and software platforms, helping the healthcare industry monitor the health data of patients without the need for them to be present in hospitals or clinics.
