- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building mobile applications using React Native
- Experience in building a professionally successful, production mobile application
- Fluency with JavaScript’s features as a prototyped and functional language
- Good software testing habits

- Experience working with an backend service and fetching data from API endpoints
- Tech/start-up work experience is a plus
- Experience: 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building mobile applications using React Native
- Fluency: Production expertise in React Native & Typescript, with a curiosity to learn new tools and frameworks
- Eye for Design: An instinct for building systems and code that are as elegant as they are effective
- Great Communicator: Ability to explain technical ideas clearly and work collaboratively with others

- As a Staff Software Engineer at Vetcove, you’ll do some of the most important work of your career
- You’ll take ownership of major product areas—designing, building, and improving the tools that help veterinary clinics streamline operations, deliver exceptional patient care, and optimize their supply chains
- The systems you create will manage billions of dollars in transactions and empower clinics to focus on their patients
- This isn’t just another engineering job—it’s a chance to tackle meaningful challenges and make a real-world impact
- You’ll be involved in everything: deciding what to build, designing how it works, and ensuring it gets into the hands of users seamlessly
- You will be a key member of our engineering team who is responsible for supporting our newest mobile app initiatives
- This level of involvement includes plan formulation, creation, maintenance across our mobile applications
- You will work closely with many native mobile components (e.g. audio, camera, video) and have the opportunity to work with the latest mobile technologies, frameworks, and libraries!
- We rely heavily on React Native for our mobile app initiatives (and will occasionally use custom native code as needed)
- Lead development of our veterinary clinic and pet parent companion mobile applications
- Contribute to the conceptualization and feature documentation of new ideas and product enhancements
- Work closely with our design team to discuss feature implementation, user experience, and microinteractions
- Building and extend interactive React Native mobile applications that will be used by tens of thousands of veterinary clinic users and millions of pet parents
- Build reusable mobile components for use by the larger team
- Implement new features in our React Native applications
- Working directly with our CTO and engineering team, as well as across other functions to continuously evolve our mobile strategy

Purchasing inventory for veterinary hospitals can be time-consuming and expensive, as finding the best prices requires a lengthy process of researching suppliers and comparing their prices. Whilst some comparison tools do exist for veterinary organizations, existing solutions do not take into account custom negotiations, GPOs, or corporating pricing schemes, limiting the thoroughness of comparisons.
Vetcove provides an online marketplace for veterinary hospital inventory procurement, allowing clinics to reduce ordering times and costs through its free service. The company achieves this by allowing users to link their existing vendor accounts and list their custom pricing arrangements, helping inform a more accurate comparison ecosystem and boost supplier sales, whilst resolving supply chain limitations.
Whilst veterinary organizations already have access to the suppliers provided on Vetcove’s marketplace, the company stands out by integrating custom pricing arrangements into the comparison ecosystem, helping to provide a more holistic and accurate overview of supply chain inventories and costs. Whilst the marketplace is free for veterinary clinics and organizations, the company charges suppliers to be listed.
