Role
Who you are
- We’re seeking a self-motivated, multidisciplinary Brand Designer to join the Owner design team
- 7+ years of experience in brand design, art direction, or a related field, ideally within technical or product-driven companies
- Proven expertise in creating and scaling brand systems that span digital and physical mediums
- A portfolio showcasing strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and execution of brand systems and campaigns
- Proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Keynote
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with experience managing agencies, contractors, and cross-functional teams
What the job involves
- This individual will function as an internal creative agency, crafting the cohesive and scalable brand systems that connect with Owner’s customers across various touchpoints including campaigns, events, packaging, digital products, and publications
- This role offers an unprecedented opportunity to shape Owner’s story and convey our mission of helping business owners battle their goliaths
- Design and evolve scalable brand systems, ensuring consistency, cohesion, and cultural relevance across all surfaces and touchpoints
- Develop innovative concepts and storytelling strategies that drive brand expression and inform system design, setting new standards for quality and impact
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including product, marketing, and external agencies, to deliver creative solutions aligned with business and user goals
- Manage high-profile projects from concept to delivery, maintaining a strategic and hands-on approach to ensure timely, polished outcomes
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and cultural shifts to inspire and inform design decisions
- Maintain high standards of quality and attention to detail in every aspect of design and production, from asset creation to final execution
Our take
The Pandemic caused a major upheaval in the US restaurant industry. Smaller operations struggled to stay afloat amidst brick-and-mortar closures, and as the demand for home delivery soared their margins were tightened further by hefty third-party delivery app charges. Add to that the fact that consumers become customers of the delivery app, not the restaurant itself, and it’s a development that has spelt real trouble for independent locales. Owner has set out to level the playing field.
Owner’s platform provides independent restaurants with the infrastructure they need to take control of their business without deferring to third-party apps like GrubHub and Deliveroo. It offers marketing, online ordering, and support solutions to over 10,000 restaurants across the U.S. The company has taken impressive first strides, too: they have a 7 figure run-rate, over 105% monthly revenue retention, and helped restaurants avoid millions in online order platform fees.
It’s a hugely attractive proposition for independent business owners, and research suggests it’s a winning idea for consumers too. Over 60% say they’d prefer to deal with restaurants directly, but historically the infrastructure simply hasn’t been in place to do so. With Owner seeing impressive traction by tripling its customers between 2023 and 2024, it's unsurprising that its 2025 funding is being channelled into engineering and design teams, alongside the development of new tools.
