Role
Who you are
- The ideal candidate will combine strong UX/UI design skills with strategic thinking, collaboration abilities, and a passion for solving challenging problems through thoughtful design
- Experience: 5+ years of product design experience, preferably in SaaS, enterprise software, or legal technology
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field; equivalent professional experience considered
- Portfolio: Strong portfolio demonstrating UX/UI design skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience designing complex workflows
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite), understanding of design systems, and familiarity with front-end development principles
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and presentation abilities, strong collaboration skills, and the capacity to give and receive constructive feedback
- Domain Knowledge: Experience designing for professional users and complex workflows; familiarity with legal processes is a plus
What the job involves
- We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Product Designer to create exceptional user experiences for Filevine's legal work platform
- In this role, you will design intuitive, efficient, and visually compelling solutions that address the complex needs of legal professionals
- End-to-End Design: Lead the design process from concept to implementation, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, and design specifications
- User-Centered Design: Apply user-centered design principles to create solutions that are intuitive, accessible, and aligned with user needs and business objectives
- Design System: Contribute to and maintain Filevine's design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across the platform
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and other stakeholders to define requirements, iterate on solutions, and ensure successful implementation
- Design Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers, review design work, and help establish best practices within the design team
- User Research: Participate in and sometimes lead user research activities to validate design decisions and gather insights for future improvements
- Continuous Improvement: Analyze user feedback and product metrics to identify opportunities for enhancing existing features and experiences
Our take
Law firms, corporate legal teams and government agencies are under increasing pressure to handle more work, more data and tighter timelines, all without increasing costs. As a result, demand is growing for legal technology that can automate routine tasks, organize complex information and also help laywers work faster and more accurately. AI has become a key part of this change, and today it's hard to find interest in legal tech that doesn't have AI at its core.
Filevine is a good example of how this shift is playing out, Founded in 2014, the company began as a software-as-a-service platform helping legal teams manage cases, documents, billing and payments in one place. Over time though, Filevine has expanded into what it now calls a Legal Operating Intelligence System, bringing intelligence into the full lifecycle of a legal matter. And in recent years, the focus has moved strongly toward AI, as most of the company's revenue comes from its AI products rather than from its original software.
This growth shows just how well its aligned with where the market is heading, and with $400M from major investors, it continues to expand its platform, adding AI tools that connect across legal workflows. By bringing together case management, depositions, contracts and drafting into a single system, Filevine has positioned itself as a central operating platform for modern legal teams.
