- 5+ years payroll experience in U.S. and Canada
- Expert in ADP Workforce Now
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, benefits, reconciliations, and year-end processes
- Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; able to advise senior partners on complex matters
- Payroll certifications (PCP, CPM, FPC, CPP) or an accounting/finance background required
What the job involves
- We’re seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to own end-to-end payroll operations across the U.S. and Canada
- This is a temporary role with the potential for flexible or part-time hours depending on experience
- You’ll work closely with Finance, People & Culture, external providers, and auditors to ensure operational excellence and seamless employee experience
- As a fully qualified, journey-level Payroll Specialist, you will process biweekly payroll, maintain compliance with all federal, state, and provincial regulations, audit and reconcile pay records, and serve as a liaison to employees, internal teams, and third-party vendors
- You will also coordinate payroll system upgrades, interpret pay policies, and support year-end processes, benefits administration, and audits
- Process biweekly payroll for salaried and hourly employees using ADP Workforce Now with accuracy and compliance
- Audit pay records, reconcile totals by department, location, and country; apply pay policies correctly (vacation, LOA, disability, government regulations)
- Prepare payroll journal entries, complete month-end and year-end reconciliations, and coordinate third-party payroll system upgrades
- Serve as primary payroll contact for employees and vendors; resolve discrepancies and respond to audit requests
- Ensure compliance with U.S. federal/state and Canadian federal/provincial regulations; administer 401(k) and RRSP contributions and benefits
- Document payroll processes, train staff, and back up specialized payroll functions as needed
