Role
Who you are
- You have at least 10 years of professional software engineering experience, with significant experience on growth engineering teams
- You have at least 5-7 years of professional experience managing direct reports on a product team, with at least 2 of those years managing a growth team
- You are in the Americas time zone
- You coach teams and individuals to achieve high standards and top performance, and have the results and specific proof points to back that up
- You build safe environments that encourage collaboration and learning
- You obsess over quality, and continuously look for ways to improve how teams improve it

- As a Growth Engineering Lead, you will help support teams and build products that will give every child on Earth an education they love. You will drive our Growth Engineering practices, using your experience and expertise to evolve our processes and tools
- You will coach and empower teams to take ownership of their goals together, strengthen engineering culture, and be an active part of teams to achieve pioneering outcomes. We value those who create psychological safety, including building a blameless, learning-oriented, curiosity vs judgment culture
- We appreciate Engineering Leaders that want to be hands-on with their teams. We don’t expect that you would be coding full-time, but we expect you to be comfortable and able to support the team in the details of their work as a code contributing member
- As a Growth Engineering Leader, you will work cross-functionally to create and execute on strategies that drive user growth, engagement, and retention. You will use your experience driving strong, successful outcomes to educate and scale a growth mindset in each team you support
Our take
ClassDojo started as a classroom management tool, which teachers can use to reward and influence good conduct at school. Beyond this, it has grown into a communication platform for teachers, students and their families, used by 95% of schools in the US, with a total of over 51 million users worldwide.
ClassDojo has had an interesting journey since its 2011 launch, growing steadily but struggling to turn a profit for almost a decade. However, the launch of its monetized communication app and tripled revenue as online learning became the norm during the pandemic propelled ClassDojo to success.
This success has led to significant venture capital investment, which is intended to evolve the company once more, from a communication app into an extracurricular learning platform and creative space for current ClassDojo users. The size and loyalty of ClassDojo’s user base, as well as the company’s sure-footed survival and growth over the last decade led to the company acquiring Y Combinator graduates Prendea in 2022, expanding its operations into Latin America and solidifying a promising future for the company.
