Who you are
- Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. A proven track record with 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with significant experience building backend systems or developer tools
- Strong proficiency in Go (Golang) and experience building scalable, high-performance applications
- Deep knowledge of modern web technologies, including microservices architecture, REST/gRPC APIs, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Hands-on experience integrating with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic) and/or working with open-source models is a plus
- Familiarity with concepts like prompt engineering, vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate), and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures is a major plus
- Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Experience with simple, secure front end UX/UI development
- A genuine passion for AI and its application to the software development lifecycle. You must be driven by a desire to stay on top of the rapidly changing technology landscape
- A flexible and proactive approach, with a demonstrated ability to quickly learn, prototype, and apply new technologies to solve real-world problems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design elegant solutions to complex technical challenges
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
What the job involves
- We are looking for a highly skilled and adaptable engineer to join our team building the next generation of AI-powered developer tools for game teams
- In this role, you will be a key technical contributor, designing and implementing features that leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) along with evaluating 3rd party tools to revolutionize the software development lifecycle
- You will be working with Go and modern web technologies to build tools that assist with writing, testing, and understanding code
- The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver, a hands-on builder, and someone who thrives on staying at the absolute forefront of the rapidly evolving AI landscape
- System & Feature Development: Design, build, and maintain robust, high-performance services and components for our AI developer tools using Go. You will tackle complex technical challenges from the initial concept through to deployment
- LLM Integration: Implement and optimize the integration of various LLMs to power features like code generation, analysis, and automated documentation
- Applied Research & Prototyping: Continuously explore the rapidly changing AI landscape. You will be expected to rapidly prototype with new models, techniques (like Retrieval-Augmented Generation), and technologies to assess their potential for our products
- Technology Evaluation: Research and recommend new technologies, frameworks, and tools. You will play a crucial role in the technical decision-making process through your research and proofs-of-concept
- Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to understand developer needs and translate them into well-designed, functional software
- Code Quality & Best Practices: Champion high standards for code quality, testing, and maintainability. Contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement within the team
- Performance and Optimization: Focus on optimizing the performance, latency, and cost-effectiveness of our AI-based services to ensure a seamless experience for developers
Our take
Zynga is a games developer that rode Facebook's platform to success back in the late noughties and early 2010's. It is now one of the biggest casual game producers globally, with a presence across 175 countries and regions and over 80 million monthly active users.
Though the company hit a number of roadblocks after its initial success - such as falling stock prices, and numerous calls it was copying other games - its subsequent resurgence is proof of its staying power. It continues to use social media as a distribution channel, and boasts titles such as FarmVille, Merge Dragons! and Words With Friends.
Future success will lie in the company's continued investment in building viral games that people love. It will also need to attune to the social media waves and keep track of where users can be found, as the landscape has become more mobile. Notable recent activity includes a collaboration with BBC Earth ahead of 2024's Earth day, and grant to develop actionable push notifications that enable gameplay without entering the application.
