Role
Who you are
- 2+ years experience building end to end ETL/ELT data pipelines
- Object-oriented and functional scripting languages (Python)
- Query authoring (SQL) as well as practical familiarity with relational databases
- Data modelling techniques for data warehousing
- Data platforms (Snowflake/Redshift/BigQuery)
- Desire to continuously learn how to implement the latest technologies and analytical tools into our tech stack
- Willingness to embrace and act upon feedback
- Open and transparent communication, ability to adjust communication to suit both technical and non-technical audiences

What the job involves
- As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role building and maintaining our data infrastructure and working with latest technologies such as Snowflake, Apache Airflow, DBT, serverless functions and Docker.
- You will be working closely with other data and business functions to develop solutions that drive both business analytics and insights as well as data driven applications
- Implement end to end data pipelines to extract and transform data from a variety of sources including unstructured and fully structured data for multiple business initiatives
- Design and implement reusable base data models in Snowflake to support multiple functions such as analytics, data science and marketing
- Optimize data pipelines with a focus on data quality to improve data observability
- Work cross functionally with other data and business functions to champion data engineering initiatives and ensure that projects are delivered on time aligned to stakeholder expectations
- Hold an impactful role in contributing to data infrastructure decisions/implementations

There are hundreds of businesses providing loans, credit cards, mortgages, insurance, and banking services, and it is difficult to know which ones to choose without education and a credit check.
Borrowell provides a free credit scoring and financial education service, providing Canadians with a free weekly credit score and helping them to choose appropriate financial services. This is achieved through offering free tips and financial education content before recommending relevant companies, helping users to find the financial tools they need whilst connecting fintech companies with new customers.
The oversaturation of companies in the fintech industry makes finding the right financial tools overwhelming, and therefore Borrowell’s approach of advising users on finding the right services is a smart one. By offering the credit checking and product recommendation service for free, the company encourages Canadian citizens to be smart with their money whilst helping companies acquire new customers.
