Role
Who you are
- We’re seeking a Senior Technical Writer who understands Application Developers and is skilled at developing content for both beginners and advanced users
- 7-10+ years technical writing experience
- Experience writing in a docs-as-code workflow with Git and Asciidoc, Markdown, or similar
- Experience in technical writing, product documentation, or online publishing
- Experience with databases or database management, and application development as a developer or technical writer
- Experience with programming languages such as .NET, Go, Java, Kotlin, Node.js, PHP, Python, Ruby, Scala, C, or C++ as a developer or technical writer
- Experience with Cloud/SaaS/complex distributed systems or cloud-native database infrastructure
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Bachelor's degree in Tech/Computer Science, Technical Communication, or equivalent practical experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) testing for code or documentation is a plus
What the job involves
- As a Senior Technical Writer, you'll work with our global team to deliver documentation that helps our customers be successful
- Working in a fast-paced environment, you’ll experience the immediate and direct impact of your contributions through frequent (monthly) releases to our rapidly growing base of global customers in database management software
- Create task-based documentation, tutorials, reference content, and in-app guidance for Couchbase products
- Take a hands-on approach to learning more about our portfolio. Walk in the customers’ shoes by using our software and ensuring that the documentation reflects best practices
- Work closely with stakeholders to ensure that features, enhancements, and changes are fully documented for ongoing releases
- Proactively engage with Support Engineers and other stakeholders to gather feedback and iterate frequently to keep the help content relevant and up-to-date
- Write clearly in English, using a simple, conversational tone

Couchbase’s NoSQL database is designed to help organizations build scalable, distributed systems that take advantage of cloud-native infrastructure.
The company's major bets on Kubernetes, mobile and NoSQL have paid off too. The recent launch of Couchbase AI Services reflects an effort to unify operational data, vector search and model hosting within a single platform, reducing the complexity that often prevents generative AI and agent-based systems from moving beyond proof-of-concept. By embedding governance, validation and security controls directly into the data layer, Couchbase is aiming to make its database a core foundation for production AI workloads.
