Who you are
- This internship is only for undergraduate students at North American colleges/universities with graduation dates between Winter 2026 through Spring 2028. No Masters/PhD students
- To support our growth, we are looking for an accomplished, motivated, and data-driven intern who is a detail-oriented problem solver and thrives in ambiguity
- The ideal candidate will have experience performing research, financial analysis/modeling, and business case studies
- BA/BS Graduation Year: Winter 2026 through Spring 2028
- Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Self-Starter mentality: must be able to effectively work independently and autonomously while managing multiple priorities
- Must be proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Docs and Sheets
Desirable
- Familiarity with Twitch as a viewer and/or broadcaster
- Previous internship or project experience in business development, consulting, technology, and/or go-to-market functions
- Demonstrated interest in the tech industry
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships

- As an intern on Twitch’s Product & Platforms Business Development team, you’ll use your business acumen to obtain hands-on experience in identifying growth opportunities, supporting strategic partnerships, and driving business initiatives that benefit our Twitch communities
- This is your opportunity to interact with mentors and be part of a team that is driving day-to-day decisions and business strategy
- You will report to the Director of Business Development and manage a variety of projects, which may include opportunities with social platforms, consumer products, payments, distribution partners, developers, and more
- Research and identify potential partnership opportunities - this includes developing business cases and go-to-market strategies, preparing presentations and proposals for stakeholders and partners, and conducting competitive analysis and market research to inform strategic decisions
- Conduct data analysis & reporting - this includes analyzing business metrics and performance data to identify insights, creating reports and dashboards to track partnership performance, and supporting forecasting and pipeline management activities
- Support cross-functional projects - this includes collaborating with sales, marketing, product, and engineering teams, participating in strategic planning sessions and team meetings, and contributing to special projects as assigned
Our take
Twitch is the world's leading video platform for gamers, allowing users to livestream gaming sessions and curate a dedicated community for their content. By dedicating the platform to gaming alone, it has amassed a loyal following of fans, and been able to launch its Partner Program where streamers can monetize their livestreams, incorporate corporate partnerships, and even attend TwitchCon, a convention where dedicated gamers can socialize.
Twitch's acquisition by Amazon in 2014 saw its viewers double in a year, bringing the platform to a wider audience. However, with YouTube streaming popularity on the rise, it has big competition to contend with, as some popular streamers prefer going live on the video giant. Interestingly, a recent move by the platform was to enable its partner streamers to make live content on other platforms - previously inhibited by its exclusivity clause - which may combat the possibility of losing streamers permanently to YouTube.
In 2022, Twitch had to contend with backlash for its proposal to cut creator income by reducing their cut of subscription earnings. However, with the plan only affecting a minute number of creators, the controversy appears to have died down. Needless to say, Twitch is for now entirely comfortable in the market - with possible plans to extend past gaming bringing the chance to generate more popularity yet.
