What the job involves
- We're at an inflection point. The foundation is laid, but we're building the airplane while flying it—and the recruiting function needs to match that intensity
- This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives in the messy middle of scale: where you're simultaneously hiring at pace, tightening systems on the fly, and building the infrastructure that will carry us through the next phase of growth
- You'll own recruiting across G&A, Manufacturing, and Go-to-Market, driving both immediate outcomes and the operational rigor required to sustain them
- The dual mandate is clear: deliver the talent we need to fuel aggressive growth today, while architecting the systems, processes, and capabilities that transform us into a world-class recruiting machine tomorrow
- You'll need to think in two timeframes at once—solving for this quarter's hiring goals while laying the groundwork for a scalable, resilient function that can support 2x, 3x, 5x growth without breaking
- We need a builder-operator: someone who doesn't wait for perfect clarity, who moves fast without breaking things, and who brings both strategic vision and a roll-up-your-sleeves mentality
- You'll be energized by pace, accountability, and the chance to shape how a rapidly scaling company attracts and closes talent—not just for the next six months, but for the next several years
- This role is for someone who sees recruiting as a competitive advantage—not a service function, but a strategic capability directly tied to execution, growth, and operational reliability
- You'll have the autonomy to make bold bets on process, technology, and team design that position us to scale without sacrificing quality or speed
- Drive hiring outcomes and recruiting strategy across three critical pillars:
- Lead talent acquisition for Corporate/G&A, Manufacturing, and GTM teams, aligning hiring roadmaps with business priorities, growth plans, and operational realities
- Build and scale a high-performing recruiting team that operates with urgency, judgment, and excellence—setting the standard for responsiveness and execution quality
- Act as a strategic advisor to executives and hiring leaders, driving role clarity, calibration, and shared accountability for getting the right people in the right seats
- Evolve our recruiting model to balance velocity with consistency—moving from reactive firefighting to proactive, predictable hiring execution
- Strengthen intake, workflow, and decision-making processes that eliminate bottlenecks and improve stakeholder and candidate experience
- Aggressively adopt AI, automation, and modern recruitment tools to increase efficiency, improve signal quality, and free your team to focus on high-judgment work
- Translate business demand into structured hiring plans, proactively identifying talent gaps, timing risks, and capacity constraints before they slow us down
- Navigate the unique challenges of high-volume manufacturing hiring alongside specialized, operationally critical roles—balancing speed with rigor
- Use data and analytics to diagnose funnel performance, forecast risks, and drive continuous improvement across every stage of the recruiting cycle
- Ensure every hiring manager, candidate, and team member experiences recruiting as world-class: clear, responsive, fair, and reflective of our standards
- Lead with a bias for action and ownership—removing obstacles, solving problems, and driving outcomes without unnecessary escalation
Our take
Crusoe is tackling one of the biggest challenges facing the digital age: the enormous energy demand of data centres and AI infrastructure. As AI models grow more powerful, they require immense computing power (and therefor electricity) to train and operate. This surge in energy use has put some pressure on power grids, driven up costs, and raised environmental concerns. Crusoe is on a mission to make this process more sustainable by finding smarter, cleaner, and more efficient ways to power the data centres that drive modern computing.
The company started out by putting wasted energy to work. Originally known as Crusoe Energy, it captured natural gas that would otherwise be burned off ("flared") at remote oil sites and used it to power modular data centres. Today, Crusoe has evolved into a major player in AI infrastructure, designing and operating large-scale data centres near renewable or stranded energy sources. It's now one of a handful of "neocloud" companies (next-generation cloud providers focused on flexible, efficient computing for AI workloads). And its facilities are helping tech giants like OpenAI handle the massive computing requirements of training advanced AI models.
Recently, Crusoe has attracted some huge investor attention, tripling its valuation to over $10B and raising $1.4B in its latest funding round. It's building OpenAI's first major US data centre campus and even experimenting with bold new frontiers. In partnership with Starcloud, Crusoe plans to deploy the world's first space-based cloud computing infrastructure, powered by solar energy and orbiting the Earth by 2027. If successful, this could redefine how and where computing happens, opening up a cleaner, virtually limitless source of energy for AI's next generation.
