Who you are
- The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong technical fundamentals, the ability to navigate ambiguity and take ownership of projects from inception to completion
- 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend or platform systems
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science (or related field)

- You take the initiative to identify commonalities between different problem statements and design appropriate abstractions accordingly

What the job involves
- We are looking for an experienced user-focused backend software engineer to join our Partner Platform team in San Francisco. You will play a crucial role in shaping the partner experience at Parafin by building industry-leading developer-first experiences
- The Partner Platform team owns the foundational systems that power partner integrations at Parafin. We build and operate partner data ingestion pipelines, DAG-based processing systems, public APIs, durable webhook delivery infrastructure, sandbox environments, and partner-specific integrations
- We collaborate across engineering and data teams to ensure partner data reliably powers underwriting, risk evaluation, and reporting workflows
- Our roadmap includes major platform modernization efforts, including evolving our data architecture and strengthening the reliability and scalability of our asynchronous, event-driven systems
- You will take ownership of key components of our partner platform infrastructure, including partner data ingestion and sharing systems and public APIs, and external webhook delivery systems, and lead exciting new initiatives leveraging our partner-facing interfaces
- You will drive impactful product initiatives aligned with product vision for the ultimate partner journey with Parafin, including the partner-facing dashboard, developer tooling, data integrations, and the platform systems that power ingestion, APIs, and real-time partner updates
- You will collaborate with stakeholders across the company to prioritize and design new products and experiments
- You will design and operate asynchronous, event-driven systems to reliably process partner data and deliver real-time updates to partner systems
Our take
Parafin is a fintech platform helping SMBs access growth capital. It targets platforms where SMBs sell and transact and offers an embedded finance solution with which these platforms can offer loans ranging from $500 to $10M. Parafin provides the capital for these loans and assumes the risk, allowing platforms to offer competitively attractive incentives to help them draw in a larger proportion of the growing SMB market.
Parafin’s focus on SMB growth funding is canny. Most worldwide businesses fall into the SMB category, but funding access for these businesses shrunk dramatically post-pandemic when traditional banks became more conservative with their loan approvals. This exacerbates SMB cash-flow issues, which reportedly already account for more than four in five SMB failures.
This means Parafin is helping platforms fill a growing and crucial market niche. With leadership from former Robinhood employees, confident funding from major players including the founders of Robinhood, DoorDash, and Plaid, and partnerships with Amazon, Parafin looks poised to net a substantial and lucrative market.
