Role
Who you are
- Professional experience working within software engineering teams
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- 5+ years of relevant production work experience in back-end web development, preferably using Go or Typescript
- 3+ years of relevant production work experience in front-end web development, preferably using React
- Track record of success in terms of ability to execute projects
- A willingness to champion team needs and get involved with strategic decisions
- Deep understanding of API concepts and designs
- Advanced understanding of SQL
- Familiarity with multiple RDS technologies and their benefits
- Familiarity with modern web infrastructure components (e.g. caching, serverless, API gateways, etc) and how to manage them
- Understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms, and experience creating and evaluating technical design documents
Desirable
- Experience working with full stack engineering teams that support a vertical slice of the product
- Familiarity with best practices of SRE (e.g. SLOs, KPIs, postmortems, incident management, toil reduction, etc.)
- Familiarity with Machine Learning (ML) frameworks and concepts
- Familiarity with Python
- Experience working with AWS
What the job involves
- Join a high-impact, full-stack engineering team at TheGuarantors as a Senior Software Engineer. You’ll partner with engineering leaders, product managers, and stakeholders to design, build, and maintain scalable applications that support both internal operations and our customer experience

- Collaborate with a cross-functional team to build features end-to-end—across backend, frontend, and APIs
- Lead technical design discussions and help evaluate tradeoffs
- Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews
- Work closely with product and design to transform business needs into practical engineering solutions
- Enable and build upon mission critical systems within our business
Our take
Home rental rates across the US are soaring. On average, rent went up by over 10% in a single year between 2021 and 2022, while in some cities that increase is as much as 40%. Renters are now struggling more than ever to qualify for homes and afford security deposits, which also impacts landlords who lack security.
TheGuarantors, which is a licensed insurance agent and broker bridges this gap by acting as a co-signer, then offering to cover and underwrite security deposits if necessary in exchange for a percentage fee of the monthly rent.
There’s been a lot of movement in the rental startups space of late, with venture capital being poured into companies like rent-to-own Divvy and rent now, pay later startup Jetty.
TheGuarantors, however, has seen immense user uptake on its platform and has won the capital backing of Portage Venture, which it intends to use to scale both its product offering and staff headcount. This, plus B Corp certification awarded in 2024, will help TheGuarantors expand its market visibility.
