Who you are

- Bachelor’s degree in law, legal studies, or a related field; paralegal certification preferred
- Proven experience as a paralegal, ideally within the fintech, financial services, or technology sectors
- Strong understanding of regulations and compliance (e.g., FCA regulations, PSD2, AML/KYC requirements)
- Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects
- Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills
- Self-motivated and adaptable to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment

What the job involves
- Provide comprehensive support to the business, including drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts, agreements, and other legal documentation
- Assist in maintaining compliance with financial regulations, data protection laws (e.g., GDPR), and industry standards
- Conduct research on fintech regulations, emerging technologies, and relevant case law, updating the business on any changes
- Liaise with internal teams to provide legal guidance and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
- Support the preparation of documentation for corporate governance, including board meetings and investor relations
- Manage and maintain the company’s legal filing systems and databases for contracts and regulatory compliance
- Assist in responding to inquiries or audits from regulatory bodies and external stakeholders

Founded by semi-pro poker player Paul Newey in 1991, Ocean Finance is a credit and loan company. However, in 2012, Ocean Finance was acquired by Think Money Group and has rebranded as a more trustworthy venture, utilising innovations in fintech to provide a suite of credit card and loan products.
In 2021, Ocean Finance partnered with secure messaging company Nivo to provide a streamlined and secure method of communication with customers. This partnership is a recent example of Ocean Finance’s focus on digital as it continues to modernise its workplace and grow its client base.
With its Capital One issued credit card, student cards, and cards for bad credit, Ocean Finance pitches itself as a helping hand for those looking to improve their credit rating and has trusted finance companies backing them. The proof is in the pudding though, and Ocean Finance must continue to reap positive results through periods of economic turmoil to maintain trust in its brand.
