What the job involves
- LaunchDarkly is looking for an experienced VP, Product Marketing to build, lead and grow our Product Marketing team
- This team will understand our customers and market, develop messaging and positioning, develop and own net-new product plans, and support the broader commercial organization to give developers the power to build their best software
- You’ll actively help your team prioritize and coordinate, ideate and strategize cross-department with your peers in Product, Sales, Engineering and every other part of the business
- Own, build and improve on strong product positioning and messaging, based on a deep understanding of our customers, competitors, and overall market
- Understand and support all sales channels via training, tools, and collateral
- Expand and update our go-to-market strategies and tactics, and facilitating the transition from a single-product organization to a product-portfolio driven one
- Track and manage a portfolio of GTM initiatives
- Support your team and enable them to be at their best, connecting them to the resources they need when required
- Coordinate and collaborate with stakeholders across LaunchDarkly to execute on common goals, and gather feedback
Our take
Feature flags are a powerful software development tool, allowing teams to modify system behavior without changing code, therefore minimizing risk. If a business has a new feature they want to test, they can then roll it out to a small set of users before letting it go live. These companies can, for example, get quick feedback on the new feature and fix any bugs, or roll back any changes.
LaunchDarkly allows companies to run tests like this by activating the new code for only a small set of users prior to launch. Typically running these tests requires lots of developer time - a daunting and expensive prospect for most rapidly growing businesses - and can risk disruption to the user experience if testing takes place on the live product.
Demonstrating its value to businesses, the platform is used by the likes of IBM, Intuit and Atlassian. Recently it has seemed to focus on further scaling its growth as it develops towards being a leading business in the feature management space.
