What the job involves
- Bitly is looking for a Front End Engineer III to develop, improve, and enrich our platform and user experience
- You will be focused primarily on adding to and improving our feature set for customer retention, user management, and billing. You will also contribute to our ongoing efforts around codebase modernization
- This position has high visibility and impact across the organization
- You will work closely with the engineering and product teams aligned within Growth
- Your team will most likely be named after an animal. Our teams work primarily in React, TypeScript, and Go
- Provide mentorship and support to Junior Engineers on your team to help them grow in technical competence, ensure code quality for owned services, and remove blockers for the team
- Participate in technical planning for large front end initiatives including an iterative redesign of our application’s user experience
- Actively engage in mentorship via code reviews, pair programming, architectural discussions, and general feedback to grow others on your team
- Create, manage, and improve our web application using a variety of technologies, including React and Typescript
- Draw from previous engineering at-scale experience to influence and steer improvements within our distributed engineering organization
- Continuously collaborate with a diverse organization of value-driven individuals to understand the goals, needs, and priorities of our users
- Turn your understanding of our systems into thoughtful, well-tested, and scalable solutions easily managed by your fellow engineers

Bitly offers URL-shortening services along with comprehensive link management solutions for businesses. Many major companies use shortened URLs to enhance their branding, such as Pepsi with its custom link, pep.si.
Shortened URLs have become a booming industry, with competition from payers like TinyURL, Rebrandly, and BL.INK. Bitly, which was majority-acquired by DSSpectrum Equity for $63M in 2017, has raised significant funding, achieved impressive annual revenues, and solidified its position as a credible leader in the market.
After acquiring leading QR code platform Egoditor and its flagship site QR Code Generator in 2021, Bitly has embarked upon rapid expansion and added to the pool of talent across the business. For now, the company's focus seems to be on growing its global SaaS footprint; targeting QR Codes, link-in-bio, and link management.
