Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience designing and developing enterprise software
- Strong understanding of databases (SQL, NoSQL), cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure), and containerization (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Experience with distributed systems, data replication, and high-availability architectures
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical topics
- Passion for helping customers succeed and a track record of owning technical sales wins
- Hands-on experience with YugabyteDB or similar distributed SQL or SQL technologies (AuroraDB, Google Spanner, Azure Cosmos DB etc.)

- Modern applications need a cloud-native database that eliminates tradeoffs and silos. YugabyteDB retains the power and familiarity of PostgreSQL by pairing its trusted API with a precision-engineered, distributed, cloud-native architecture
- Even better, it’s 100% open source. Many of the world's leading enterprises are migrating from legacy RDBMSs (like Oracle, SQL Server, and DB2) to YugabyteDB, to meet their mission-critical app demands
- The DST group is responsible for the storage, transaction, replication and BCDR capabilities of YugabyteDB. We care deeply about correctness, performance, and usability of the system we are building
- We are always looking for innovative solutions to these challenges, be it from other industry applications, academic research or original contributions, as our team’s work powers a broad range of components
- The team's work areas include Hybrid Logical Clock based distributed transactions, DocDB storage engine built on top of RocksDB, vector index libraries like USearch and HNSW, RAFT consensus, instant database clones, as well as a broad set of distributed database management features like auto sharding, cluster load balancing, xCluster async replication, online upgrades and rollbacks
- Research, design, implement, test and release new database features and enhancements
- Write high quality C/C++ code and comprehensive test cases. Participate in the code review process
- Troubleshoot correctness, stability or performance issues related to statement planning and execution in a complex distributed system
- Identify and implement performance improvements in the storage, transactional and replication layers
- Enhance and streamline database management operations like cluster horizontal scale out, online index creation, incremental backups, and blue-green deployments
- Improve database scalability as we expand cluster sizes and transaction throughput
- Contribute to the growth of our open source database product, YugabyteDB

Traditional IT stacks and database solutions have rapidly become antiquated in recent years due to a surge in demand for cloud-native applications. SQL databases are typically the standard format for managing enterprise data, but integrating and scaling this infrastructure within the ever-changing field of cloud-based applications presents serious challenges.
Yugabyte develops a cloud-native and open-source SQL product named YugabyteDB, a database system that is designed to be easily scalable, flexible and resilient when integrated within cloud-based applications. Through PostgreSQL compatibility, automated data recovery and high computing power, the startup claims that its database solution reduces downtime, optimizes security, and reduces increases compatible infrastructure options.
With the migration from legacy database systems to cloud-based solutions a necessity rather than an option for many enterprises, Yugabyte has made a smart move by providing a flexible and accessible solution to integrate familiar SQL databases within a cloud-based setup. Its range of strategic partnerships and product development has the company well set to see further growth.
