Who you are
- ~10+ years of experience in business development with 5+ years direct or indirect work experience in the Money Transfer, Fintech, payments or Mobile Financial Services Industries
- Hands-on, driven B2B salesperson from the fintech/payments world, with industry contacts reflecting this background
- Results-oriented with great skills in communication, organization, and negotiation
- Great networking skills
- CRM proficiency, Salesforce CRM knowledge is a plus
- Flexible, self-motivated, disciplined, takes ownership of job at hand
- Team-oriented, able to accept and create change
- Strong understanding of customer, market dynamics and requirements
- Ensure effective working relationships with all relevant clients/partners, third parties and internal colleagues
- Strong sense of initiative and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent attention to detail
- Fluent in English other languages are a bonus!
- The right candidate will be target driven, with a passion and sense of ownership to deliver against target
What the job involves
- The Business Development Director will identify, negotiate and close new customers across the region, as a strong individual contributor
- This will be a hands-on role with deep involvement in execution, leading from the front
- Responsible for developing the overall sales and business development plan in a specified segment and/ or region in the USA
- Management of full cycle of sales process hunting for new clients, including agreement/signatures, live account status and ongoing management of accounts
- Developing sales strategies using your local market expertise to maximize go-to-market resources and execute against relevant opportunities
- Ensure excellent communication and internal coordination to roll out new services taking into accounts market specificity (regulation, competition etc.)
- Attend trade shows, source leads, follow sales process and report back to sales management team
- Ensure all specific reporting within required time frame including full use of CRM tool with precision
- Provide timely feedback to line manager about performance, sales activity, account management and strategy
- Ensure account retention, contractual health, well-being, and maximum satisfaction of clients
- Initiate and maintain a strong link between customers and back office services to ease communication and facilitate the resolution of any issues,
- Identify trends by researching industry, related events, and announcements, and
- Ensure effective working relationships with all relevant clients/partners, third parties and internal colleagues,
- Effectively communicate the needs of your customers to the support team

Thunes allows businesses to process payments anywhere in the world, improving their revenue. The company has managed to differentiate itself from traditional payment platforms thanks to their flexibility, transparency and low cost. They have also avoided competing with payment giants such as PayPal, who they now number as a customer. Other clients include Uber, Deliveroo and Grab.
In 2023 Thunes opened offices in Beijing after entering the Chinese market in 2021. This coincides with $60 million in Series C funding that is going towards the expansion of Thunes into new markets via cross-border payments which, alongside China, include Latin America and the Middle East. This indicates a strengthened global reach for Thunes.
