Role
Who you are
- Bachelor or MS degree in mechanical or mechatronics engineering
- 2+ years of experience with physical testing and analysis of mechanical or electronic systems against detailed requirements
- 2+ years of direct automation design and build experience (automated testing, manufacturing, robotics, industrial etc.)
- Experience leading and driving technical projects to completion
- Good understanding of electrical circuit design and power electronics
- Experience with Python or NI(LabVIEW, TestStand, or VeriStand)
- Experience with electrical test equipment, hand tools, power tools
Desirable
- 2+ years of experience with component, system, or vehicle validation testing (FAA DO160, Biomedical FDA testing, or equivalent)
- Good electrical engineering background (active circuit design, power electronics, digital circuits, motor drives, signal measurement and conditioning)
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams across an organization
- Strong communicator and presenter of technical content
- Experience using CAD software to create basic fixtures
- Experience with HV systems and safety
- Experience with integrated system communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, RS485 etc.)

- Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility

- Design and build reliable automated test equipment to conduct functional tests on PCBAs or modules
- Work together with Design Engineers, System Engineers, and Reliability Engineers to Identify design critical operating modes and create design validation test plans
- Work with test technicians to build validation test setups and execute test plans and teardowns
- Investigate device failures to determine root cause and drive product improvements
- Identify and plan critical tests to validate new technologies

Our take
With traffic, noise, and emissions becoming major challenges for urban life, Archer is building electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircrafts, led by its flagship model, Midnight, offering a cleaner, quieter alternative to traditional short-haul travel. The idea is simple: replace long car rides with quick, sustainable fluights that lift off vertically, fly over the gridlock, and help reduce urban pollution. It's a bold shift in transportation, but one that could meaningfully change how we navigate cities in the years ahead.
Midnight is designed to make these short flights practical, safe, and efficient. Its electric powertrain significantly reduce noise and emissions compared to helicopters (one of the biggest barriers to adopting urban air mobility at scale). However, eVTOLs face hurdles before becoming an everyday reality, including regulatory approvals, infrastructure build-out, and the operational testing needed to prove long-term safety and reliability. Archer is addressing these challenges with major manufacturing investment, deep engineering partnerships, and ongoing flight testing in the US and abroad.
Even with these barriers, Archer has been moving from success to success. The company is set to be the official air taxi provider for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. And its recent acquisition of Hawthorne Airport in LA will serve as both a launch site and an innovation hub for next-generation, AI-powered aviation operations. On the commercial side, Archer's partnerships with United Airlines and its growing international presence signal strong industry confidence.
