Who you are

Have 5+ years of experience working as a FE/UI engineer with a proven track record of shipping code
Are proficient in advanced React and CSS patterns
Have a deep, foundational understanding of Javascript and/or Typescript
Experience with testing frameworks (e.g. Jest, Mocha, Playwright, Cypress)
Treat web accessibility as a top priority
Have experience working with a fast paced, highly collaborative, and cross-functional team
Are comfortable working in an agile, safe-to-fail, environment
Have experience across the web stacks, and are familiar with principles of Search Engine Optimization
Are interested in integrating generative or analytical artificial intelligence systems with more traditional discoverability workflows
Understand the technologies used in digital asset management, image processing, etc

What the job involves

We’re looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to help us build next-generation tooling for our customers to enable them to make their sites discoverable to users via modern search engines, internal search tooling, asset management, and third-party generative AI chat and search tools
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, Site Discovery
Write performant and accessible User Interfaces that power the Webflow visual design experience
Work on technologies such as React,js, Javascript/Typescript, HTML, and CSS
Demonstrable solid experience and deep expertise in at least one technical domain
Contribute to building and executing on functional strategy
Lead projects that directly contribute to team and engineering organization's deliverables
Produce and elevate the quality of maintainable, tested, performant, and scalable code
Author, collaborate on, and evaluate design documents
Influence technical designs and team-level prioritization as well as participate in technical solutions
Collaborate product managers and designers in an autonomous, supportive team environment
Mentor junior engineering in technical skills and Webflow culture
Participate in engineering citizenship activities such as co-authoring engineering blogs, strengthening and improving our hiring processes, and leading internal hackathon teams

Our take

No-code development systems allow users to create and publish the kind of output that was once only possible with the help of a team of developers. Webflow is one such platform that allows non-developers to create professional websites without knowing any code. It joins others such as Pantheon, Weebly, Squarespace, and Wix in a hotly-contested low-code development market. While competition is high, so too is demand, with low-code platforms accounting for more than 65% of application development activity in 2024.

The popularity of platforms such as Webflow is perhaps not surprising, as low-code development is usually cheaper for companies to implement and reduces time to market. Webflow has been used by over 3.5 million designers and teams to create sites for companies including enterprise brands such as Dell, Rakuten, UpWork, and Petal. It raised a large amount of funding in a Series C round in 2022. This is being used to further develop its platform, with a longer-term goal of pivoting to providing a no-code tool not only for websites, but software development as well.
