Who you are
- 2+ years of administrative experience, preferably in a legal or corporate environment
- Familiarity with legal terminology, processes, and documentation is a plus
- The ability to work with a large global team and manage a great deal of information, tasks, and relationships
- You are a self-starter with excellent time management skills
- You have outstanding written and oral communication skills and the ability to adapt and work well with all employees
- You should be extremely detail-oriented and well-organized with a proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

- Skilled in Google Suite and Navan is a plus!

What the job involves
- We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support our Legal Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing various administrative tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the legal department.
- You must be able to maintain a calm, professional, and focused demeanor, accommodate different work styles with ease, juggle multiple projects and requests at any given time, demonstrate sound and consistent judgment in sometimes ambiguous situations, and make timely decisions in relatively complex situations.

- Calendar: Provide administrative assistance to the senior leaders of the global legal team, including managing calendars and scheduling meetings
- Administrative Support: Coordinate logistics for internal and external meetings, weekly team lunches, quarterly team events, and off-sites. Mail triage and routine audit and maintenance of team email aliases, slack channels, internal org charts, and internal wiki pages. General coordination and follow-ups of agenda items, deadlines, and filing requirements
- Legal Newsletter. Assist with gathering and compiling team updates, announcements, and industry news for publication in our internal and external newsletters
- Presentations. Create engaging slide decks or revise existing ones by gathering and incorporating feedback from senior leaders of the global legal team, synthesizing information, and creating infographics
- Travel: Book domestic and international travel for senior leaders of the global legal team (including coordination of visas, transportation, lodging, logistics, etc.)
- Expenses: Maintain accurate record-keeping in Navan (expense and travel tool) and work closely with finance on closing this aspect of the books
- Organization of Files: Assist in organizing and maintaining legal files and documents in online systems
- Client & Vendor Communication: Communicate professionally with internal stakeholders, clients, external counsel, and vendors as needed
- Confidentiality: Ensure strict confidentiality and adherence to privacy and compliance standards when handling sensitive legal information
- Compliance: Prepare and submit required documentation to maintain compliance with regulatory and organizational standards; maintain accurate records and filing systems for compliance documents
Our take
Confluent is a commercial company built on top of the open-source Apache Kafka project. Confluent and Kafka have developed a streaming data technology that processes massive amounts of information in real-time. The streaming database technology was developed at LinkedIn as a way of moving massive amounts of messages. The company decided to open-source that tech in 2011, and Confluent launched as the commercial arm in 2014.
While the base open-source component remains available for free download, it doesn’t include the additional tooling the company has built to make it easier for enterprises to use Kafka. Confluent's value add is in those additional tools, including a cloud version of the product and a marketplace for sharing extensions to the platform.
Confluent expanded strategic partnerships with Microsoft and acquired Immerok, and in 2023 expanded its cloud platform. 2024 saw further product expansions with the launch of the Confluent Migration Accelerator, all exemplifying how the company is living up to its name by rocket-boosting the benefits of Apache Kafka integration for companies.
Now, it looks like IBM is eyeing the company for acquisition and Confluent looks to be a natural fit. Long positioned as the real-time backbone behind modern application, Confluent would gain global scale and an even deeper enterprise reach under iBM, while cementing its role at the center of AI-driven architectures. For COnfluent, the deal would marka shift from fast-growing independent disruptor to foundational infrastructure player powering the next wave of enterprise AI.
