Role
Who you are
- An established full-stack product engineer: You have experience collaborating with non-technical colleagues and tackling technical challenges across the whole stack to deliver impactful solutions with effective momentum. Software Engineers III should have 5+ years direct software engineering experience and demonstrated product (not feature) level impact
- Proven track record: You have a history of launching and maintaining software products with minimal guidance and developed a deep understanding of modern development practices and technologies
- Product focus: You are passionate about building high-quality products that meet customer needs and deliver business value, and you’re comfortable being proactive with your ideas
- Strategic thinker: You consider the long-term impact of your decisions and the strategic goals of the business when making technical decisions

What the job involves
- As a Software Engineer at Abatable, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing robust solutions that drive our mission to empower every organisation to build a thriving future for climate, nature and people
- You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Design, Data and other functions to build products using your technical and leadership skills
- Your expertise and input will be essential in shaping our technical architecture, driving our mission forward, and making a tangible impact on the planet
- Take end-to-end ownership of developing software solutions to support the company’s mission and strategic objectives
- Lead technical projects, coordinating with stakeholders, defining and prioritising tasks, and providing direction for other engineers
- Work closely with peers across different functions to define product requirements and ensure engineering initiatives are aligned with the product team’s OKRs
- Write well-designed code demonstrating a solid understanding of architectural and non-functional concepts and engineering best practices
- Support less experienced engineers around you through advice and guidance
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to enhance the company’s products and development practices

Abatable was founded in 2021 and is backed by Global Founders Capital and Y Combinator. Its founding team has a strong founder-product fit to tackle this urgent problem, with one co-founder previously working as VP at Goldman Sachs, advising large corporates and institutional investors on nature-based carbon removal and impact investment portfolios.
Abatable has seen significant growth, expanding its platform to include a high-quality carbon offset marketplace, as well as making a strategic acquisition in the nature-based carbon credit company Ecosphere+. Its experience and focus on minimising risk whilst maximising impact gives the company an edge over other companies starting to crowd the sector.
