- Experience: intermediate mid-career, with 4-7 yrs in field
- Experience with one or more of Java, C, C++, C#, Go, Python, PHP, Obj-C/Swift, Linux and OSX

What the job involves
- Zynga is currently seeking an Application Security Architect to join our Product Security team
- The team assesses, enables and influences the secure design, development, operation and usage of games, while also providing Offensive Security and Penetration testing capabilities
- This individual will drive the formation of the security architecture program within the team
- The position will report directly to the Director of Cybersecurity, and be a member of our Cybersecurity team, resident under Zynga’s CT organization
- The right candidate will possess experience and familiarity with software and computer systems, hands-on technical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced startup-like environment
- Research and develop security requirements, design patterns and templates for product teams
- Enable adoption of security practices into the software development process
- Partner with engineering teams on the specifications for automation tools and CI/CD enhancements through mockups and acceptance testing
- Develop threat models to prioritize scope and use cases for penetration testing
- Collaborate on product security roadmaps for Zynga’s games and conduct security maturity assessments
- Work closely with Zynga software engineering and application teams outside the security organization
Our take
Zynga is a games developer that rode Facebook's platform to success back in the late noughties and early 2010's. It is now one of the biggest casual game producers globally, with a presence across over 170 countries and regions and millions of monthly active users.
Though the company hit a number of roadblocks after its initial success - such as falling stock prices, and numerous calls it was copying other games - its subsequent resurgence is proof of its staying power. It continues to use social media as a distribution channel, and boasts titles such as FarmVille, Merge Dragons! and Words With Friends.
Future success will lie in the company's continued investment in building viral games that people love. It will also need to attune to the social media waves and keep track of where users can be found, as the landscape has become more mobile. In 2024 the company announced it was developing push notifications that enable gameplay without entering the application, which will be an interesting addition to its outputs.
